The Financial Analyst 2 - School/College/Hospital examines the financial status of the assiged school/college/hospital by collecting, monitoring, and studying data and developing projections, reports, and presentations to assist senior staff in financial decision-making processes. The incumbent establishes and enforces policies and procedures that further the school/college/hospital's financial goals and objectives.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Develops, prepares, and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations.
Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and makes recommendations to senior management.
Provides analytical evaluation for forward-looking financial or business-related projects.
Devises financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts.
Reviews reports and ensures that financial information has been recorded accurately.
Compares results with plans and forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments.
Trains and oversees junior staff members to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the end work product.
Assists in the development and organization of department and project budgets.
Develops performance and productivity dashboards, models, and/or analyses.
Assists with profitability and pricing on product offerings and develops performance indicators to enable the analysis of business segments and new product lines.
Conducts research on different strategic initiatives.
Acts as liaison to other departments, vendors, and external parties to complete assignments.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides financial management and post-award support for sponsored projects and research activities within the School of Nursing and Health Studies.
Develops, prepares, and analyzes financial reports, projections, and account summaries for sponsored projects to support faculty investigators, department leadership, and strategic decision-making.
Reconciles sponsored project accounts utilizing Workday, BI, and other institutional reporting tools to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
Monitors sponsored project expenditures and financial activity to ensure compliance with sponsor requirements, university policies, and approved project budgets.
Assists faculty investigators and administrators with financial planning, budget monitoring, and expenditure forecasting for sponsored awards.
Reviews financial transactions, including purchase requisitions, supplier invoices, expense reimbursements, journal entries, and cost transfers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
Analyzes account balances, spending trends, and financial performance and makes recommendations regarding budget utilization and financial management of sponsored funds.
Develops and maintains financial tracking tools, dashboards, reports, and other analytical resources to support research administration and operational decision-making.
Reviews award terms and conditions and assists faculty and administrators in understanding financial requirements, reporting obligations, and budgetary restrictions.
Tracks subcontract agreements and reviews subcontractor invoices to ensure compliance with award requirements and available funding.
Assists with financial forecasting, reporting, and closeout activities for sponsored awards to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
Conducts financial analyses and special projects to support departmental, school, and research-related strategic initiatives.
Serves as liaison between faculty investigators, departmental administrators, the Office of Research Administration, and other university offices regarding sponsored project financial management.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
