Responsibilities
The Planning Analyst independently evaluates comprehensive plans, development applications, and growth management documents to ensure compliance with Florida statutes. They also provide technical assistance to local governments and represent the department at interagency meetings and public workshops.
Requirements
Candidates must possess knowledge of urban and regional planning concepts, development processes, and permitting programs. Strong communication, critical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively are required for this professional role.
Independently evaluates comprehensive plans and plan amendments, evaluation and appraisal reports, and other documents submitted to the Department under Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, and implementing rules. Prepare reports summarizing the issues, analyzing consistency with growth management laws, identifying strategies to achieve consistency with state laws and making recommendations for resolving issues with local governments and interested parties.
Independently evaluates applications for development approval, notices of proposed change, development orders, binding letters, agreements, and other documents submitted to the Department under Chapter 380, Florida Statutes, and implementing rules. Prepare reports summarizing regional issues, analyzing consistency with growth management laws, identifying mitigation strategies and making recommendations for resolving issues with local governments and interested parties.
Provides technical assistance to local governments and communities on planning issues.
Serves on one or more special state initiative teams.
Participates in interagency meetings, workshops, pre-application conferences, and public meetings as the Department representative.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
