Full job description
Summary
The Director, Supply Chain Value Creation will lead strategic initiatives focused on creating value, strengthening resilience, and advancing strategic priorities across Chobani’s upstream supply chain. A central, multi-year priority for this role will be developing and advancing Chobani’s long-term upstream fruit sourcing strategy. This includes defining future sourcing models, evaluating grower, processor, and supplier networks, improving traceability, advancing domestic sourcing, and building the cross-functional roadmap required to support implementation over multiple years. This role will operate at the intersection of Procurement, R&D, Product Development, Supplier Quality, Operations, Planning, and Finance to identify and advance opportunities across direct materials, supplier networks, sourcing models, and innovation processes. The Director will lead complex initiatives that require cross-functional investigation, supplier collaboration, financial analysis, and clear recommendations. This includes advancing productivity opportunities, improving supply continuity and traceability, evaluating new supplier and material capabilities, and building processes to support innovation and growth. This is not a traditional category management role. The position requires someone who can operate effectively in ambiguity, bring structure to complex and evolving business questions, evaluate options, build the business case, and guide cross-functional teams toward a practical path forward.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities • Develop and manage a multi-year upstream value creation roadmap across key direct materials, supplier networks, and strategic supply chain priorities. • Develop and lead Chobani’s multi-year upstream fruit sourcing strategy, including future sourcing models, grower, processor, and supplier networks, domestic sourcing, traceability, resilience, and implementation priorities. • Lead the cross-functional scoping and advancement of complex upstream fruit sourcing initiatives, including feasibility, business requirements, financial implications, governance, ownership, risks, and implementation planning. • Define the roadmap required to strengthen Chobani’s visibility and influence across the fruit supply chain, from grower and processor networks through fruit preparation and finished product use. • Evaluate opportunities to improve fruit sourcing through supplier partnerships, direct sourcing models, strategic agreements, network changes, new capabilities, and other long-term supply approaches. • Identify, evaluate, and advance productivity opportunities in partnership with Procurement, suppliers, R&D, Operations, and Finance. • Lead strategic investigations related to sourcing models, supplier capabilities, geographic diversification, domestic sourcing, traceability, supply continuity, and upstream risk. • Translate broad business needs into clear workplans, decision points, owners, timelines, and recommendations. • Evaluate alternative upstream supplier, material, processing, and supply chain models that improve cost, resilience, quality, flexibility, or competitive advantage. • Partner with Direct Procurement and suppliers to identify value creation opportunities beyond traditional negotiations, including specification optimization, supplier collaboration, network changes, process improvements, and strategic partnerships. • Lead cross-functional initiatives from initial investigation through recommendation, approval, transition planning, and implementation support. • Assess upstream supplier networks and identify gaps or opportunities related to capacity, capability, quality, continuity, traceability, and future business needs. • Partner with Product Development, R&D, Procurement, Supplier Quality, Operations, Planning, and Supply Chain Finance to improve how new materials, suppliers, trials, and product changes are evaluated and introduced. • Develop repeatable processes, tools, and governance for upstream value creation, supplier investigations, feasibility assessments, and trial execution. • Clarify cross-functional roles, required inputs, decision rights, and escalation paths for complex upstream and innovation-related initiatives. • Monitor relevant commodity, agricultural, supplier, and external market developments to identify emerging risks and opportunities. • Communicate recommendations, business cases, risks, and progress clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. • Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, processors, growers, industry partners, and external experts.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Agriculture, Food Science, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Operations, Value Creation, or a related field.
Experience leading complex, cross-functional supply chain initiatives from initial investigation through recommendation and implementation.
Strong understanding of direct materials, supplier networks, sourcing strategies, and the factors that influence cost, quality, service, and supply continuity.
Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver productivity or value creation opportunities across suppliers, materials, specifications, processes, or supply chain networks.
Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience developing business cases, evaluating alternatives, quantifying risk, and measuring results.
Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, bring structure to complex business questions, and develop practical, fact-based recommendations.
Experience designing or improving cross-functional processes, governance, and ways of working.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead work across Procurement, R&D, Product Development, Supplier Quality, Operations, Planning, and Finance.
Strong supplier relationship and collaboration skills, with the ability to work beyond traditional transactional or commercial discussions.
Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry is required, preferably within food or beverage.
Experience with fruit, agricultural ingredients, commodities, dairy, or other complex upstream food supply chains is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with grower, processor, aggregator, and ingredient supplier networks, including traceability, domestic sourcing, agricultural risk, and multi-tier supply chains, is strongly preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly to senior leadership.
Ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives while maintaining clear priorities, ownership, and follow-through.
Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
Proven leadership skills, including the ability to lead through influence and mobilize high-performing cross-functional teams.
