About Launch Schools
Launch Schools is a New York City public charter school network reimagining public education in a rapidly changing world, through a bold, student-centered approach. For over a decade, Launch has delivered joyful, equity-driven middle school education in Weeksville, Brooklyn. In Fall 2025, we opened Launch High School in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, welcoming our founding 9th grade class and beginning the build-out of a connected 6–12 learning ecosystem for the future of learning, work, and community. Our mission is to prepare all students with the knowledge, skills, and character to disrupt inequities in society and build a better world. We believe students at every level can be pushed and supported to do more than they thought possible.
Launch High School is a transformative, student-centered learning environment offering one of the most innovative and impactful high school experiences in New York City. The student experience is grounded in Competency-Based Learning rooted in ReDesign's Future9 Competencies, Personalized Learning that honors student voice and choice, and a groundbreaking Learning Ecosystem model that extends learning beyond the classroom through partnerships with local nonprofit and business partners. Launch High School's founding year exceeded expectations, and the work now is to build on that strong start — growing Launch's presence, partnerships, and impact throughout Sunset Park as the school continues to grow.
The ideal candidate for this role will bring strong connections and working knowledge of Sunset Park, along with the Spanish fluency needed to engage meaningfully with the Sunset Park community.
As the “Community Engagement & Enrollment Manager” for Launch Schools, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Community Engagement & Brand-Building in Sunset Park
Deepen and scale the local relationships and grassroots partnerships Launch has built over its first two years in Sunset Park.
Build relationships with local elementary and middle schools, faith institutions, immigrant and social service organizations, tenant and civic associations, and community leaders.
Represent Launch at community board meetings, neighborhood events, local markets, and other public forums.
Develop culturally and linguistically responsive outreach materials and messaging, in partnership with the Communications team.
Create accessible channels for community members and prospective families to ask questions, raise concerns, and give input.
Enrollment Strategy & Operations
Lead end-to-end execution of high school enrollment funnel — awareness, information sessions, applications, and yield.
Drive the change in recruitment volume and sophistication needed to fill Launch's new, significantly larger campus.
Build and manage a summer outreach effort and a year-round recruitment calendar, including school tours, family information sessions, and community events.
Collect, track, and analyze outreach and enrollment data, and use it to drive continuous improvement in strategy and tactics.
Partner with the Enrollment team on systems, timelines, and network-wide strategy, and with the Communications team on materials and messaging.
Support family retention and re-enrollment alongside new recruitment.
Strategic Partnerships
Partnerships at Launch are a shared effort across the Launch network and schools team. This role is the on-the-ground driver of that work in Sunset Park surfacing opportunities, building initial relationships, and looping in the right team members to structure and formalize them.
Build a feeder pipeline of relationships with Sunset Park–area elementary and middle schools.
Cultivate relationships with local elected officials and Community Board 7.
Serve as Launch's day-to-day connective tissue in Sunset Park, keeping the Enrollment, Communications, and leadership teams in the loop on what's happening on the ground.
Identify potential partnerships with social service and wraparound-support organizations in Sunset Park.
Identify local business, civic, and philanthropic partners to support Launch's competency-based model including: project partners, guest speakers, mentorship opportunities, and more
Cross-Functional & Organizational Support
Meet regularly with the Enrollment and Communications teams to align local activity with network-wide strategy.
Coordinate with the Launch High School's leadership team on partnerships that touch instruction, operations, or school leadership relationships.
Bring a community and family voice into ongoing conversations about the transition to Launch's new permanent high school home.
Wear multiple hats as part of a fast-growing organization, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects as needed.
The ideal candidate will be:
Aligned with, passionate about, and invested in both Launch High School's vision and the community-based design process by which it continues to grow in Sunset Park. This includes unwavering commitment to equity, Launch's mission, and building genuine relationships with the neighborhood it serves.
Experienced, with 3+ years of experience in community outreach, enrollment/admissions, partnerships, or organizing. School-based / CBO experience is strongly preferred.
A relationship-builder who is energized by being out in the community. Comfortable knocking on doors, tabling at events, and deepening trust already built.
Aligned with the educational philosophy that undergirds Launch High School: project-based and competency-based learning, an interdisciplinary approach, and work-based/career-connected programming. Able to represent this authentically to families, schools, and community partners.
Entrepreneurial and energized by the scale of the moment.
Comfortable with rapid growth and evolution as Launch scales into a much larger campus
Skilled at building an outreach, enrollment, or partnerships effort from the ground up
Motivated by the opportunity to help grow a proven school into a trusted community anchor
A strategic operator who can also run the details: project management, data tracking, and follow-through on a multi-step enrollment funnel.
A professional who demonstrates:
Self-awareness, with an accurate sense of their own strengths and growth areas
An ability to treat all members of the community with respect and to build trust quickly
Strong organizational, self-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to juggle many relationships and responsibilities at once
Confident, effective communication, adjusting style across families, school leaders, elected officials, and community partners
Empathetic listening skills and high emotional intelligence
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
Familiar with Sunset Park, Brooklyn (or comparable NYC immigrant communities) strongly preferred.
Comfortable with a flexible, community-facing schedule, including evenings and weekends around events and peak enrollment season.
Bachelor's degree required
Compensation & Benefits
Highly competitive and commensurate with experience, along with a full benefits package.
Launch is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any individual or group for reasons of race, color, creed, sex, age, culture, national origin, marital status, sexual preference or mental or physical disability.
Launch is a growing public charter school currently serving 6th-8th grade students from Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, and surrounding areas in Brooklyn. We believe that every child deserves a high-quality education and that every child should be prepared to succeed in college.
At Launch, we believe that students learn best by doing. Working with our institutional partner, NYC Outward Bound Schools, Launch prepares students not only to succeed in the classroom, but to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Launch students will never be asked to simply recite memorized information. Instead, students investigate relevant subject matter, work in the field alongside experts, and present what they have learned in order to demonstrate depth of understanding to their peers, teachers, and parents in various fields of study. This kind of real-world learning invests students in their communities, teaches them the values of leadership and service, and prepares them for success in school, college, citizenship and life.
“This kind of innovative school…is an example of how all our schools should be.”
—President Obama after visiting an Expeditionary Learning school in Washington D.C.
