POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Operations Manager reports to the Chief Development Officer and provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Development Team’s philanthropy operations.
This leader is responsible for shaping and executing a data-driven vision that optimizes fundraising operations and prospect development strategy to sustain and grow philanthropic revenue in support of SHH.The Development Operations manager also serves as a subject matter expert and consultant on organizational wide supporter data strategy, CRM and business intelligence systems, and reporting and analytics.
This role requires an experienced leader who can think strategically and creatively, manage complex and competing priorities, and deliver results in alignment with organizational goals. This role partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders and requires strong executive communication, leadership presence, and the ability to influence decision-making across teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership and Strategy
Lead the Development Operations team through coaching, performance management, accountability, and professional development. Development Operationsincludes Prospect Management, Data Management, Gift Processing, and Donor Relations.
Direct Development team reporting and analytics strategy and vision in partnership with the Chief Development Officer, Development Directors, and the SHH Data and Analytics team.
Set and oversee strategic priorities for process improvement initiatives related to Raiser’s Edge NXT and associated systems, including advancements in fundraising technology and automation opportunities. Evaluate, recommend, and implement new tools, systems, and processes to strengthen data collection, reporting, and analytical capabilities.
Identify strategic priorities for innovation and investment within Development Operations and lead implementation of initiatives that ensure long-term database growth, integrity, and utilization in support of organizational goals.
Data Steward:
Cultivate data management best practices and guidelines across donor, advocate, and volunteer systems to maximize supporter data value and utility.
Establish clear business definitions for data and ensure organization-wide understanding.
Inform decisions regarding supporter data access; work with system administrators for implementation and monitoring.
Partner with the Data and Analytics team and key stakeholders to define and refine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at both the business and corporate scorecard levels.
Support the organization’s strategic Supporter Data Centralization Project led by the Data and Analytics Director. This initiative will transform how data is leveraged to achieve our mission.
Ensure compliance with existing data policies as well as MNCDPA
Reporting and Analysis
Serve as the primary liaison with Data & Analytics business partner(s), ensuring alignment between Development priorities and enterprise data strategy.
Direct the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Development fundraising performance reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and appropriate distribution of daily, weekly, monthly, and executive-level reporting. Leverage business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Raiser’s Edge NXT dashboards) to enhance reporting efficiency, data integration, and decision-making capability.
Oversee preparation of Feeding America quarterly and annual reporting, as well as coordination of annual audit documentation in partnership with Finance.
Fundraising Operations and Prospect Research
In partnership with Development Directors, lead the development and execution of prospect management, moves management, and forecasting strategies in support of SHH’s annual fundraising goals.
Guide the development and implementation of processes that support identification, cultivation, and stewardship of a diverse base of donors and partners.
Provide strategic direction to the Prospect Development Specialist in the development and analysis of portfolio, pipeline, and demographic reporting, and advise on portfolio strategy and moves management best practices.
Planning and Administration
In partnership with the Chief Development Officer and Development Directors, support the development of the annual fundraising strategy and budgeting process.
Develop and oversee the Development Operations team workplan and budget in collaboration with team managers, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and resource allocation needs.
Partner with Development leadership to ensure delivery against workplan goals, strengthen operational best practices, and support fundraising performance through robust data infrastructure and systems.
Select, manage, and evaluate Development Operations vendors and software providers to ensure effectiveness, integration, and return on investment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
8–10 years of successful experience in advancement services, prospect development, and donor relations, including process improvement and project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Finance or Business Administration).
Proven people leader with 3 years of experience hiring, managing, and developing full-time staff, including leading midsize teams comprised of both hourly and salaried employees; able to set direction, coach performance, and build constructive, cooperative working relationship
Demonstrated experience in mid-to-large nonprofit organizations, with a strong understanding of fundraising operations, donor engagement strategies, cross-functional collaboration and operational complexity associated with large non-profits.
Strong strategic and operational leadership; able to develop and manage workplans and budgets, prioritize competing demands, and lead multiple projects across stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Expertise in overall non-profit fundraising and advancement services best practices and ability to translate that knowledge into policy and procedure improvements.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across different teams and roles and provide exceptional customer service.
Raiser’s Edge NXT proficiency required. Deep experience with advanced CRM and fundraising technology ecosystems, including donor/supporter database administration and data stewardship (Luminate Online and Omatic preferred).
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, develop actionable reporting, and clearly connect insights to philanthropic objectives and strategic decisions.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Office 365 and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
