ABOUT US
SCH Services provides centralized enterprise support across the SCH Capital Holdings, Inc. family of brands (SullivanCotter, Clinician Nexus, C3 Nonprofit Consulting Group & Lotis Blue). Through integrated expertise in finance and accounting, human resources, information technology, legal and compliance, marketing, administrative operations, and learning and development, the organization enables each operating company to focus on delivering exceptional client value while maintaining strong governance, operational excellence, and scalability.
Committed to aligning enterprise workforce capabilities with long-term business strategy, SCH leverages data-driven insights, AI-enabled frameworks, and collaborative partnerships with executive leadership and HR to drive measurable improvements in workforce productivity, employee engagement, and organizational readiness across its business units.
JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Consultant is an experienced communications professional responsible for planning, executing, and managing a broad portfolio of internal communications initiatives across a multi-company enterprise. This role serves as a key contributor to the Internal Communications function by producing recurring enterprise publications, leading communications for assigned operating companies, and partnering with Human Resources, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver timely, effective, and engaging communications.
Operating in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, the Communications Consultant manages multiple priorities while translating evolving business needs into clear communication strategies and deliverables. The role requires sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to move work from concept to execution with limited direction. The Communications Consultant develops recommendations, creates high-quality communications, and drives projects forward while adapting to changing priorities and stakeholder needs.
Success in this role requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong relationship-building capabilities, and the ability to navigate an executive-facing environment with professionalism and confidence. The Communications Consultant exercises a high degree of ownership and accountability, balancing strategic thinking with flawless execution to support organizational objectives and strengthen associate engagement.
Communications is expected to influence the business, not simply produce communications.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operating Company Communications Ownership
Serve as the dedicated communications lead for two of five operating companies, owning the full scope of their monthly and quarterly internal communications — including publications, manager messaging, town hall support, and stakeholder coordination
Build and maintain trusted working relationships with operating company leadership and program stakeholders, functioning as an embedded communications partner who understands each audience's culture, priorities, and communication needs
Develop and execute communications plans for assigned operating companies, managing timelines, approvals, and distribution with minimal oversight
Proactively identify communication gaps or opportunities within assigned operating companies and bring forward recommendations without being asked
Recurring Publications & Content Management
Manage end-to-end production of the organization's primary internal newsletter, including content gathering, writing, editing, and distribution — with related content repurposed and adapted across channels, including the intranet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Viva Engage
Produce a suite of monthly internal publications serving various employee segments, including associate-facing content, manager communications, and new hire spotlights
Coordinate recurring monthly employee engagement communications and meeting materials, ensuring content is timely, accurate, and tailored to each audience
Maintain editorial calendars, publication schedules, and distribution lists across all assigned channels, proactively flagging conflicts or capacity constraints before they become problems
Project Coordination & Program Support
Lead communications planning and execution for annual employee engagement programs spanning wellness, recognition, culture, and compliance — coordinating timelines, content, and distribution across multiple stakeholder groups
Support quarterly all-hands and town hall communications across assigned operating companies, including logistics coordination, materials preparation, and employee-facing messaging
Develop and manage project timelines, stakeholder touchpoints, and approval workflows — moving work forward decisively and following up without being prompted
Provide first-pass writing and editing support for content submitted by leaders and program managers; escalate executive-level content to the Manager of Communications for review and approval
Consulting & Stakeholder Partnership
Engage stakeholders across Human Resources, Operations, and leadership teams as a trusted advisor, asking insightful questions to identify communication objectives and develop effective solutions
Build collaborative relationships with executives and stakeholders across the organization to advance communications initiatives, facilitate informed decision-making, and deliver high-quality results
Partner with project teams from planning through implementation, integrating communications strategies early to support business objectives, organizational change, and associate engagement
Help document and codify channel strategy and communication standards, contributing to the long-term infrastructure of the Internal Communications function
CORE COMPETENCIES
Initiative and Ownership – Moves work from ambiguity to execution by developing recommendations, producing quality deliverables, and advancing projects with appropriate independence
Relationship Building – Develops trusted partnerships across Human Resources, leadership, and business teams by asking thoughtful questions, understanding underlying needs, and providing practical communications solutions
Adaptability – Thrives in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, balancing multiple initiatives while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
Execution Excellence – Demonstrates sound judgment, attention to detail, and accountability while managing projects from concept through implementation
Collaboration and Influence – Builds credibility with stakeholders at all organizational levels and effectively navigates an executive-facing environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
8–10 years of professional experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a closely related field, with demonstrated progression in responsibility
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Demonstrated experience independently leading internal communications initiatives—including planning, execution, and stakeholder management—rather than serving solely in a supporting role
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt voice, tone, and format across audiences, organizational levels, and communication channels
Strong project management skills within a communications environment, including management of editorial calendars, publication schedules, and multi-stakeholder review and approval processes
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative, trusted relationships and function as a proactive partner — someone who identifies the real issue, brings a recommendation, and follows through
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities shift, and the work still has to get done; energized rather than overwhelmed by complexity
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, and experience with SharePoint, WordPress, or a comparable intranet/content management platform
Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Slack, Viva Engage, or comparable employee communication channels
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working across multiple business units, entities, or audience segments within a single organization or consultancy
Background in a consultancy, professional services, or mission-driven organizational environment
Familiarity with internal communications best practices, employee engagement strategy, and change communication principles
Experience using AI-enabled writing and productivity tools to improve efficiency while maintaining editorial quality, consistency, and appropriate human oversight
Experience with tools such as Canva, Camtasia, or Adobe Creative Suite — design skills are a welcome addition but not a prerequisite
Experience supporting video scripting or production for internal employee audiences
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work location is remote. Minimal travel. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job.
