Job Description:
ThePharmacy Technicianis responsible forsupportingpharmacological services for theIn-Office Dispensary(IOD)by stocking, assembling,and distributing medications.Provides support for the office independentlyand with minimal supervision.Performs other diverse duties as requested or required under the general and direct supervision of the manager.
PrimaryDuties &Responsibilities:
Manage payor prior authorizations.
Work with both the patient and foundation funding team to ensure access to medications as needed.
To create a positive and professional first impression for the practice and to show the patients a “we care” attitude.
Process prescriptions electronically and ensure prescription information is accurate and complete.
Collect patient insurance and demographic information, including allergies and comorbidities.
Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
Respond to patients and healthcare providers requests, answering their questions and referring various inquiries to the applicable staff in a timely and sensitive manner.
Transfer medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile, disposable syringes using aseptic techniques. Pack all medications for delivery to the appropriate location.Price and file prescriptions that have been filled.
Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, and enter inventory data into computer.
Cleanand help maintainequipment and workareas andsterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
Prepare and process medical insurance claim forms and records.
Complete reports and send them to applicable team members as required.
Ensure all medication recalls are completed according to rules and regulations.
Check all inventory for the appropriate expiration date andreturnwhen applicable.
Maintains logs forregistering, return to stock, credits, HIPAA, no safety caps waivers, vouchers/grants, inventory,and special assignments.
Receive payments for prescriptions dispensed and log payments accurately into system.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned to help drive our mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care in our community, for our community, and by providers who live in our community.

Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of three (3) years Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
All states except Arizona: Applicants must complete a pharmacy technician training program thatthe State Board of Pharmacy approvesin the state youare inor accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Arizona Only: Register with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician trainee and pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) orbecome nationally certified through the PTCB and register with the State Board as a pharmacy technician.
