Position Summary: Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical under the direction of licensed healthcare provider.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Review EHR and prepare patients records for office visits
Maintain patient flow
Maintain exam rooms (cleanliness and supplies)
Go over current medications with patient at each office visit and reconcile medication list EMR
Scan in all incoming records into patients EMR system
Obtain vitals and other medical information from patient for office visit and enter information into EMR
Schedule patients for follow up in office laboratory studies
Set up and assist providers with medical examinations/bone marrow biopsy procedure
Return patient phone calls
Injections upon request
Obtain Advanced Care Directive from patient and enter information in EMR system
Obtain Plan of Care for pain from patient and enter information in EMR system
Obtain via venipuncture and process CBC'S, CMP, PT/INRS and glucose monitoring as ordered by physician and enter information in EMR system
Perform and/or assist with EKG'S
Triage patients in person and on the telephone
Answer telephone calls and messages within the same day
Place reminder calls to all patients being seen by providers the next day (make sure this gets done prior to 4pm each day)
Other tasks as requested by management

Qualification/Requirement:
Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written and/or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving occasional, last-minute changes in generally standardized situations.

The employee must be able to assist patients in and out of chemo chairs and on and off exam tables. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
