About Aspen Power:
Aspen Power is a distributed energy generation platform with the dual mission of accelerating and democratizing decarbonization. We partner with businesses, communities, and others in the industry to develop, construct, and operate renewable energy assets, including solar and battery storage, and are expanding into broader distributed energy resource (DER) solutions and data center power solutions. Our experienced team is passionate about solving our clients’ energy challenges to deliver a sustainable future throughout the U.S. For more information, please visit aspenpower.com.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Asset Management, the Commercial Asset Management Analyst will collaborate closely with the CAM team to support the financial, commercial, and strategic oversight of a growing portfolio of solar, battery storage, and other distributed energy assets, including data center power solutions, contributing to the company's mission of advancing sustainable energy solutions. This role provides hands-on experience across the dynamic and rapidly growing renewable energy and distributed energy resource sector, and calls for a strong drive for renewable energy, the ability to manage high-volume daily operational tasks efficiently, and the initiative to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility.
This role begins as a 4 to 6 week temporary position, requiring at least 30 hours per week, with the opportunity to transition to a full-time, permanent position upon successful completion of the temporary period.
Responsibilities:
Daily Operations of Assigned Portfolios: Act as the primary liaison between external stakeholders and internal teams, effectively managing multiple workflows and meeting deadlines.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to solar, battery storage, and other distributed energy asset performance, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
Financial Analysis, Revenue Management & Budget Control: Support financial assessments of solar, battery storage, and DER projects, including cost-benefit analysis, budget tracking, revenue reporting, and reconciliation.
Compliance Management: Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from authorities, utilities, financial institutions, and other external entities for assigned portfolios.
Contract Review & Negotiation: Collaborate with the legal team on contract drafting, review, and negotiations related to solar, battery storage, and other DER services and sales agreements.
Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of asset-related activities, contracts, and documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and market-related risks; coordinate with legal teams to address disputes related to asset ownership, land use, or contractual matters.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing key insights and updates on asset management activities while ensuring a seamless transition during the onboarding of new assets.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field is preferred.
Passion for Renewable Energy: Enthusiastic about the renewable energy sector, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company. Prior experience or a background in renewable energy is a plus.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Excel with a solid understanding of financial modeling. Familiarity with other data analytics tools is a plus.
Familiarity with AI Tools: Working familiarity with AI-based tools and platforms (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) is required; ability to use AI tools to improve analytical efficiency and reporting quality is strongly preferred.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess complex data, manage competing deadlines across multiple portfolios, and provide strategic insights.
Attention to Detail & Organization: Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-up and organizational skills; capable of processing large volumes of information and summarizing key points for decision-making.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration across teams and with external stakeholders.
Independent & Proactive Work Ethic: Self-motivated and capable of working independently with periodic guidance while demonstrating initiative and accountability.
Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work seamlessly across departments and engage effectively with external stakeholders.
Location:
NYC - onsite/hybrid
At Aspen Power, our work model includes three ways of working: virtual, in-person, and hybrid (a hybrid of in-person and virtual). On site strongly preferred.
Compensation Range: $35 per hour (temporary period); commensurate salary upon transition to permanent, full-time employment.
