We are searching for the best talent for an Associate Director, Portfolio Marketing, Refractive, OSD & Cataracts to join our J&J Surgical Vision team. This position is based in Irvine, CA.
Purpose:
The Associate Director will lead the strategic direction, development, and execution of U.S. marketing initiatives across the Refractive, Ocular Surface Disease, and Cataract portfolios. This role is responsible for driving growth through integrated professional and consumer marketing strategies, shaping product messaging and evidence dissemination, and strengthening customer engagement across key eye care segments. The leader will serve as a critical interface between Global Strategic Marketing, R&D, Commercial Operations, and cross‑functional partners to ensure positive customer experience, optimize portfolio performance, and influence future innovation. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing J&J Vision’s mission to protect, correct, and enhance healthy sight for life by delivering impactful programs, tools, and insights that elevate customer experience and increase market adoption.
You will be responsible for:
Identify customer needs and provide inputs to new/existing portfolio commercial initiatives
Develop and Lead US Marketing Plans
Lead strategy and execution for all professional and consumer marketing initiatives.
Lead all Sales support tools & asset creation
In-office tools, assets, and programs
Consumer campaigns and social media efforts
Internal cross-functional collaboration & alignment for all initiatives, programs, and assets.
Develop product messaging and work with Medical Affairs on supporting evidence dissemination.
Partner with broader US Marketing team and Business Development on conference execution, booth initiatives, and associated PR/comms.
Establishes partnerships and executes plans for portfolio partnerships, with distributors or other relevant stakeholders.
Lead strategy and execution for professional and consumer for marketing initiatives.
Lead Business Planning, Forecasting and Demand Planning Process for Refractive and Ocular Surface.
Determine integration and execution of portfolio messaging in conjunction with our portfolio.
Represent US market and help shape the OSD and Refractive portfolio for product development with key partners in GSM and R&D.
Engage with external partners to create valuable solutions for customers in the Cataract business
Global Innovation Marketing lead for TearScience Portfolio, driving commercial launch excellence including positioning/messaging, customer targets, campaign development, and launch planning.
Drive connectivity between JJSV and JJVC, for TearScience and Refractive portfolios.
Commercial Operations - Lead life cycle actions and demand planning process by partnering with Value Stream and Supply Chain teams.
Responsible for managing the OSD and refractive marketing budget, including resource allocation that is aligned to strategy.
Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, MBA preferred.
8+ years progressive business experience is required.
5+ years previous marketing experience is required.
Experience working with Ophthalmology and/or Optometry is preferred.
Experience as a people leader is preferred.
Previous experience launching products is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, written and oral communication skills is required.
Ability to reside locally and work out of the Irvine, CA office at least 3 days/week.
Travel as needed for internal and external meetings/conventions is required (25%).
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
