DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects and evidence collection.
Drafts legal documents including motions, affidavits, and discovery.
Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
Perform all aspects of discovery including drafting and responding of discovery requests and subpoenas; compiling, organizing coding/indexing documents.
Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials, hearings, depositions, and mediations.
On a case-specific basis, oversees the organization and maintenance of the case file and Case Management Spreadsheet delegating to and overseeing the tasks of department assistants and/or file clerks, as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Ability to organize files and workflow.
Must be available for overtime and travel, as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Paralegal Certificate/DegreeORfive years of litigation paralegal experience.
In-depth knowledge of Florida and U.S. District Court laws, court procedures, and electronic discovery.
Experience with all stages of litigation, including intake, discovery, and trial.
Experience coordinating trial/arbitration logistics, including negotiating for workspace, setting-up remote office space, and coordinating with clients and vendors.
Experience maintaining processes to collect, store, and maintain paper and electronic case files.
Experience with court and administrative agency filings, including electronic or e-filings.
Experience using e-discovery databases and litigation support software for document production, witness files and deposition transcripts and exhibits.
