Ideal Candidate
The Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Department is seeking a Project Manager to work across divisions to support several Solid Waste’s projects that require high level knowledge of solid waste operations, policies, and best practices. The Solid Waste Project Manager will be responsible for writing and administering grants, serve as primary lead on developing and implementing public facing strategic communication plans, assist with reviewing technical proposals and reports across various departmental operations, track solid waste policy development at the Federal and State level while also being responsible for developing solid waste policies and ordinances for the County, and lead research collaborations with outside stakeholder groups such as universities. The ideal candidate should have robust knowledge of solid waste operations, the ability to review and comprehend technical reports and engineering documents in order to communicate key takeaways with staff and be an expert collaborator responsible for representing the department in a variety of settings with diverse groups of stakeholders. Candidates should have strong communication, writing, and presentations skills as well as the ability to analyze data to drive decision making within the department.

Performs project management work by providing project direction, planning and leadership to implement medium to large sized projects.
Works with project sponsor and stakeholders to outline project goals, scope, deliverables, resources budget and timing.

Represents the department/division at meetings, functions, and events.
Mentors and provides expertise to other project team members.
Develops and presents project documentation and reports.
Develops and implements recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences.
Analyzes data to determine project's effectiveness and implements project/program adjustments.
Performs other related duties as required.

This job is performed in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration.
