Full job description
You enjoy solving problems in a complex environment to deliver the best outcomes for millions of people.
You're all about the detail and this role will allow you to drive evidence-based decision making to optimise systems and efficiency, not just for the business but for our customers too. It's data and research with impact you can see.
In this role, you'll:
Join our Customer Behaviour team, where you drive the delivery of spatial insights that support major infrastructure projects and operational planning across NSW. As a Spatial Analysis Officer, you will work across Operations Planning to develop mapping and analytics that bring complex data to life and support better decision-making.
You will contribute to high-profile projects and major events, using geospatial techniques to identify risks, opportunities and impacts. Your work will help shape how information is visualised and understood across Transport for NSW.
You will:
• Deliver spatial and data analysis to support planning, projects, and operational decisions • Design, build, and maintain maps, dashboards, and spatial visualisations (including web maps) • Prepare and manage spatial data, GIS layers, metadata, and standards to ensure quality and consistency • Analyse data across projects and events to identify risks, opportunities, and key insights • Support infrastructure programs and precinct planning through spatial monitoring and evaluation • Develop and improve spatial tools, models, and automated workflows to increase efficiency and reporting • Work with stakeholders to deliver practical, data driven solutions and uplift spatial capability across teams • Support and uplift spatial and data capability across teams through guidance and best practice.
This a permanent full time position, offering hybrid working options from our Elizabeth Street office.
You are a spatial analysis professional with strong capability in GIS and geospatial analytics, and a passion for turning data into clear, meaningful insights. You bring hands-on experience using GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS to support planning, infrastructure or operational projects.
You have a strong understanding of spatial data management and analytics, including data acquisition, integration and quality assurance. You are experienced in producing high-quality maps, visualisations and analytical outputs that communicate insights effectively to a range of stakeholders.
You hold relevant tertiary qualifications in geography, spatial science, GIS or a related discipline, or bring equivalent industry experience. You are proficient in GIS tools and confident managing, analysing and visualising spatial data to support planning and operational outcomes.
You bring a structured, detail-oriented approach and are comfortable working across multiple priorities in environments with changing timelines. You collaborate effectively, engage with stakeholders to understand needs, and deliver practical, high-quality solutions.
