Overview
The Program Director of Aquatics, under the direction of the Vice President or Branch Executive Director, is responsible for organizing and implementing diverse and safe swim programs, which will incorporate large group and individual activities, swim lessons for all ages, and promote program participation. This includes supervising, budgeting, developing, and implementing YMCA programs and services. The Program Director participates in Association-wide efforts in order to fulfill the operating objectives of the Association and in accordance with the policies established by the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Northern Colorado.
Provides leadership and supervision of assigned branch and program staff; recruit, train, develop, and evaluate employees and volunteers.
Creates a collaborative, high-performing culture that models YMCA values and relationship-building.
Develops, implements, and oversees high-quality, mission-driven programs to meet YMCA goals community needs.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs in all departments to support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
Ensures consistent program evaluation, quality improvement, and alignment with YMCA standards.
Represents and promotes the YMCA within the community and build strong relationships and partnerships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, etc.
Develops, manages, and monitors operating budgets; ensure fiscal responsibility and achievement of revenue goals.
Oversee facilities, equipment, and safety standards to ensure high-quality, well-maintained environments.
Manage resources efficiently to support sustainable operations and program growth.
Creates experiences that promote member connection, retention, and satisfaction.
Responds promptly to member feedback, concerns, and inquiries.
Supports marketing and communication efforts to promote programs, services, and community impact.
Assists in outreach initiatives that strengthen visibility and participation.
Ensures adherence to all YMCA policies, safety regulations, and best practices.
Monitors program effectiveness, track outcomes, and implement continuous improvements.
Leads assigned YMCA fundraising campaigns and events.
Completes additional duties assigned in support of the YMCA mission.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
Leadership experience in aquatics operations and programming, including swim lessons, lifeguarding, aquatic fitness, and safety initiatives; multi-site or association-level experience strongly preferred.
Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
CPO certification within 30 days of hire.
Lifeguard Trainer certified within 60 days of hire.
Current CPR/First Aid/O2 certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/FUNCTIONAL ATTRIBUTES:

Visual Acuity:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
