North Carolina FC Youth (NCFC Youth) is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 16,000 players (ages 2.5-19) and their families each year. Through full-service programming, NCFC Youth offers youth soccer for all levels of play – from Recreation and outreach programs up to the highest levels of elite competition. In addition, NCFC Youth hosts tournaments, camps, and other events to ensure the best player development opportunities.
NCFC Youth’s on and off field operations are supported by more than 1,700 personnel including full-time staff, seasonal coaches, and volunteer coaches. In collaboration with the professional North Carolina Football Club, home to NC Courage (NWSL) and North Carolina FC (USL Championship), NCFC Youth is the largest youth-to-professional club in the country and offers a pipeline of player development including U-23s, amateur & academy contracts, and professional contracts in addition to coaching development opportunities.
Since 1974, we have been living our mission of providing positive, high-quality soccer opportunities at all levels of play for youth and their families and serving as a valuable community partner. NCFC Youth takes strides to accomplish this through living out our core values of fun, excellence, community, innovation, and passion.
The Position:
The NCFC Youth Pre-K Program provides a fun, engaging introduction to soccer for players ages 4–5 through eight Saturday morning sessions. Players develop fundamental movement skills, confidence with the ball, and a love for the game in a positive, age-appropriate environment.
The Pre-K Lead Coach is responsible for leading weekly sessions, setting up the playing environment, supporting parent volunteer assistant coaches, and ensuring every player and family has an outstanding experience. The ideal candidate has previous soccer playing and/or coaching experience, enjoys working with young children, and is confident leading groups while creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere.
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Previous soccer playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
Previous experience working with young children (teaching, camps, clinics, babysitting, volunteer work, etc.) preferred.
Lead and facilitate weekly Pre-K sessions using the provided curriculum.
Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to each session to set up fields, goals, and activities before families arrive.
Provide direction and support to assistant coaches and parent volunteers throughout each session.
Create a fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment where every player feels welcome and successful.
Ensure equipment is set up, maintained, and packed away following each session.
Must be energetic, patient, organized, reliable, and comfortable leading large groups.
Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Must enforce health and safety guidelines and communicate any concerns to NCFC Youth staff.
Must be open to feedback, willing to learn, and work collaboratively with Recreation staff and fellow coaches.

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal Pre-K Lead Coach is enthusiastic, dependable, and passionate about introducing young children to the game of soccer. They enjoy leading others, creating memorable experiences for families, and helping players build confidence through fun, engaging activities.
Pay is hourly and varies based on experience.
Background Requirements:
Successful completion of all new hire paperwork.
SafeSport training.
Background check and risk management clearance prior to employment.
