The Business Development Representative (BDR) will be part of an independent core competency and a new department charged with leveraging CROM's long and successful history by identifying new opportunities, developing relationships, and strengthening market position in specific Regions. The BDR will be instrumental in proactively shaping the future of our organization by identifying and exploring markets for CROM Services opportunities.
In this role, the individual will focus primarily on cultivating long-term relationships and generating high-quality opportunities directly with key decision-makers of water and wastewater systems. By establishing deep trust with these utility owners and system operators, the BDR will serve as the foundational bridge for new business leads.
The BDR will collaborate with multiple departments to develop best practices and business strategies, and to fine-tune objectives. The BDR will be measured by the effectiveness of their individual sales, marketing, and business development efforts. To be successful, the BDR will need to understand and embrace the company's direction and focal points to form personal initiatives to facilitate meeting objectives.
Essential Duties and Core Responsibilities:
Sales, Marketing, and Business Development
Demonstrate to current and potential clients how CROM can add maximum value to their projects while maintaining the CROM characteristics of reliable, trusted, and experienced infrastructure specialists.
Become a trusted and reliable resource for our clients by providing technical assistance in the early stages of project development, including face-to-face meetings and possibly technical presentations.
Provide after-project assessment and support to ensure "we have made good things happen for our clients".
Attend industry-specific conferences to market the CROM brand, expand personal network, find potential parallel sectors, and understand current market trends.
Collaborate with the Marketing Team to maximize the visibility of the CROM brand in alignment with our Core Values and Culture.
Networking and Customer Relations
Focus primarily on creating and developing business relationships with asset and system owners.
Develop rapport with clients through phone, video, and face-to-face meetings to become an invaluable resource and a value-add to the project development teams.
Develop a vast network of clients by being visible and present to develop deep and long-lasting relationships.
Proactively monitor client needs to fine-tune initiatives.
Provide consultation and advice to clients.
Establish interpersonal business relationships in parallel core competencies.
Seek out and work with parallel core competencies to resolve the client's needs when we underperform.
Research
Develop a forward-looking pipeline of client needs for planned projects. As relationships grow, develop a pipeline of unplanned projects by understanding needs and applying our specialties.
Using analytic reporting and our CRM, create a detailed pipeline database with a deep understanding of decision makers, timing, and the project development team.
Collect and analyze data on customer demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits to identify potential markets and factors affecting product demand.
Monitor industry statistics to stay ahead of trends.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Represent the CROM brand and culture in a positive way.
Highly motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail.
Apply sound judgment by honoring our Core Values and good business sense.
Ability to communicate well in person or through written correspondence.
Ability to collaborate well with other core competencies.
Excellent organizational skills and professionalism.
Ability to build relationships quickly and effectively.
Responsive to inquiries, requests, and demands in a timely and efficient manner.
Develop knowledge of principles and methods for sales and marketing the CROM specialties. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, and on-site demonstrations to prevent overselling.
Must be able to meet high-pressure deadlines and put in the time needed to meet the company objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management and/or requisite experience at a water/wastewater system, and/or at least 3 years of sales and marketing experience, preferably in the water/wastewater sector.
