There’s no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we’re committed to helping you do exactly that!
Join us as we strive to ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.
Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.
GHD is seeking a senior Engineer/Geologist to work as a Project Manager with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group.
In an ever changing world, it requires creativity and innovation to stay ahead.
We’re seeking the curious, those who are stimulated by fresh thinking and a desire to shape our communities in new, positive ways.
As part of a truly global team, working on complex and rewarding projects, you'll be at the forefront of driving change.
See what the power of commitment can do for you.
Manage projects for the purpose of identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of the population. Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of air, food, soil, water, and other sources. Drive projects to regulatory closure.
Responsibilities
Project Management
Success in this role includes both structured project discipline and thoughtful problem-solving.
Lead environmental projects, ensuring client communication, scope, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
Track and maintain detailed liability estimates and related documentation in accordance with strict client requirements.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
Review and coordinate input from multidisciplinary teams to ensure high quality and consistency across deliverables.
Drive projects to regulatory closure in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.[EH1]
Client & Customer Management (External)
Communicate and collaborate early, often, and effectively with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, peers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Understand client drivers, expectations, feelings, and needs in order to provide responsive communication and deliver high-quality technical service.
Consult with senior and junior colleagues to prepare proposals, presentations, and client engagement initiatives.
Present option-based recommendations to support proactive and innovative consulting.
Insights and Reporting
Prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports, correspondence, and regulatory submittals.
Support development of proposals, technical scopes, and client deliverables.
Ensure deliverables undergo structured QA/QC, consistent with GHD and client technical writing review expectations.
Solutions Analysis
Evaluate and present remedial alternatives and conceptual site models with quantified lifecycle cost impacts and risk implications to address contaminants such as VOCs, SVOCs, metals, petroleum, and PFAS.
Consult with GHD’s world class technical subject matter experts.
Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop sound, data-driven recommendations.
Identify risks early and provide decision-ready options.
Identify options that drive cost efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.
Contaminated Site Assessment
Lead teams that conduct environmental site assessments, remedial investigations, and compliance evaluations.
Assess environmental risks and impacts related to site conditions and recommend practical mitigation measures.
Incorporate GHD and client administrative practices into assessment plans.
Coordinate across stakeholder and internal support groups to ensure effective collaboration during project transition phases from emergency response to contaminated site assessment and remediation.
Environmental Risk Management
Identify, assess, and manage environmental risks and costs associated with contaminated sites, infrastructure systems, and remediation operations.
Understand design and operation of environmental containment and treatment systems, such as landfills, barrier walls, and pumping systems.
Health, Safety, and Environment
Follow all organizational and client HSE policies and procedures and contribute to a proactive culture of continuous improvement.
Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks to the environment and personal well-being in the workplace.
Personal Capability Building
Develop professional capabilities through training, mentoring, and ongoing education.
Maintain understanding of evolving environmental regulations, remedial technologies, and industry best practices.
Pursue and maintain external professional accreditation where relevant (e.g., Professional Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist).
Sampling and Testing Manage Teams that:
Conduct sampling and field investigations using appropriate scientific and safety methods.
Coordinate laboratory testing and ensure quality assurance/quality control protocols are followed.
Prepare field documentation, work plans, and data summary reports.
Coordinate field documentation and lab work to meet GHD and client documentation requirements.
Bid Solicitation / Request for Proposal / Tender Preparation
Contribute to the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and related project documentation following GHD and client procedures.
Community of Practice Management
Engage actively within GHD’s environmental community of practice to share knowledge and strengthen technical expertise.
Education

OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification required.
Experience
5–10+ years of experience, including contaminated site investigations and remediation, data interpretation, and technical reporting, including complex project sites, with expertise in regulatory strategies and client engagement.
