Overview
Help Build Room & Board’s Strategy to Support Our Communities Through Purpose, Partnership, and People.
At Room & Board, we believe community involvement is an essential part of overall wellbeing. We are committed to supporting organizations in the communities where we live and work and proudly donate 2% of our profits annually to community partner organizations.
As our Community Impact & Philanthropy Manager, you'll help shape that impact. You'll build strategic plans and partnerships that create lasting change, inspire more than 1,000 employee-owners to give back, build a culture of service across the organization, and tell stories that connect our people to a greater purpose. The manager is not only responsible for shaping the strategy, but also for actively managing the partnerships and processes that support it. If you're passionate about community, relationship building, communications, and creating measurable social impact, this is your opportunity to make a difference.
This role is part of our Internal Communications team within Human Resources and reports to the Director of Internal Communications.
Why Room & Board?
As a 100% employee-owned company, every eligible staff member shares in our success through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Ownership isn't just part of our benefits—it shapes how we work together. As employee owners, we think long-term, support one another, and take pride in creating exceptional experiences for our customers and each other.
Here, you'll join a collaborative culture where your ideas matter, your work has a direct impact, and your contributions help strengthen our people, our business, and the communities we serve.
Location:
4600 Olson Memorial Highway
Golden Valley, MN 55422
This role is hybrid, working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in office. Because this role is centered on building community connections, occasional evening and weekend participation in volunteer, non-profit and community events are expected. Please note: We are not considering remote candidates for this position.
You will share your talents as a Community Impact & Philanthropy Manager in the following ways:
Shape our community impact strategy. Develop and evolve the vision, strategies, and priorities that guide Room & Board's philanthropy and community engagement efforts while ensuring our investments align with our values and business goals.
Build meaningful partnerships. Serve as the primary relationship manager for our national and Minnesota nonprofit partners, strengthening relationships that create lasting value for our communities. You’ll identify and evaluate new partnership opportunities, conduct due diligence, negotiate partnership agreements, and support leaders across the organization who manage local community relationships.
Inspire staff member engagement. Plan and lead volunteer programs, donation drives, and community events. You’ll also lead the strategy and management of our internal giving platform, making it easy for staff members to connect with causes they care about.
Measure and grow our impact. Track program outcomes, analyze data, manage our community investment budget, and translate results into insights that strengthen future strategy and demonstrate measurable impact.
Tell stories that matter. Partner across the organization to communicate the impact of our community investments through compelling storytelling, internal communications, and contributions to Room & Board's annual Impact Report.
You will bring the following experiences & qualifications as a Community Impact & Philanthropy Manager:
5+ years of experience in corporate philanthropy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), community impact, nonprofit leadership, foundation grantmaking, community development, or a related social impact field.
Demonstrated success building strategic plans and partnerships, engaging stakeholders, and leading community impact programs in mission-driven environments.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results.
Exceptional communication, writing, storytelling, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Experience using data, reporting, databases or giving platforms to track program outcomes, demonstrate impact, and inform future strategies.
Knowledge of nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and emerging industry trends, with a commitment to continuous learning and best practices.
A collaborative, adaptable, and purpose-driven mindset, with the curiosity and initiative to continuously improve programs and strengthen community impact.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word with experience creating compelling reports, presentations and project documentation for a variety of stakeholders.
Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.
What you’ll find working here as a Community Impact & Philanthropy Manager:
Salary: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 / yr.
