attorneys and staff to support our growing environmental and energy law
practice.
A
successful applicant must reside in or near, or be willing to relocate, to
Seattle and work four days a week in office (M, T, Th, F). Firm Overview
Marten enjoys a national
reputation as a leader in environmental, energy, and natural resource law. Our
team of lawyers includes recognized authorities in climate change, wind and
solar development, air quality, water resources and water quality, endangered
species, forestry, public lands, fisheries, environmental cleanup, and
environmental and energy project review and permitting. We work throughout the
United States on large-scale projects involving complex negotiations,
transactions, and litigation. Our lawyers practice out of offices in Seattle,
Washington; Portland, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Washington, D.C.; and Toronto,
Canada.
Legal
Assistants are vital
to our success and are valued for increasing the firm’s productivity and
efficiency. This position includes managing the work product of 20+ busy,
committed lawyers performing complex work across the country. This is a
permanent, full-time position with exceptional benefits, a competitive salary,
and a supportive work environment. We are looking for a smart, hard worker who
ideally has at least three years’ experience working in a law firm; local,
state or federal attorneys’ office; state government’ environmental NGO; or

parties, and the courts.
Finalize, file and serve

nationwide, adhering to jurisdiction-specific court rules. Timely and accurate
filings are critical to maintaining case momentum and avoiding procedural
delays. Because filings are often complicated and involve organizing and filing
multiple declarations and exhibits in support, priority will be given to
candidates with direct experience.
Provide litigation
support in complex civil matters by helping attorneys prepare for depositions, hearings, trials,
arbitrations, and mediations. This includes organizing exhibits, coordinating
logistics, and attending proceedings when needed.
Organize and maintain physical

ensuring documents are easily accessible and securely stored. This enables our
legal team to retrieve information quickly.
Access and retrieve court
documents using
PACER, court websites, and other legal databases.
Review court rules and manage

docketing systems to track and meet critical dates. This proactive approach
reduces risk and ensures procedural compliance.

Collaborate with other legal
assistants and paralegals to
share knowledge, coordinate tasks, and support firm-wide legal operations.
Prepare tables of contents and
tables of authorities for
legal briefs, enhancing readability and supporting persuasive legal arguments.
Manage attorney calendars, scheduling meetings, deadlines,
and court appearances.
Maintain confidentiality and
communicate professionally with clients and attorneys, across all interactions,
whether in person, by phone, email, or virtual platforms.
Perform general office
administrative duties, such as
answering phones, scanning, copying, and building binders, to support daily
