Requirements
Candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse license and have at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in infusion therapy or specialty pharmacy. An Associate Degree in Nursing is required, while a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

BHI brings all three together—empowering doctors to extend care beyond the clinic, enabling staff to streamline and centralize management, and ensuring patients receive TDD in the comfort of their homes from experienced nurses.

Position Summary The Nurse Manager, Clinical Operations & Educationserves as the clinical liaison for patients receiving immunoglobulin therapies and other specialty medications for patients with rare disease states. This role provides patient education, clinical support, therapy coordination, and ongoing disease-state management to promote treatment adherence, improve patient outcomes, and ensure a positive patient experience.
The Nurse Manager collaborates closely with pharmacists, providers, infusion nurses, reimbursement specialists, and patient care teams to facilitate therapy initiation and ongoing treatment success. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days in office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Education & Training
Provide comprehensive education regarding disease states, prescribed immunoglobulin therapies, treatment expectations, and potential side effects.
Educate patients and caregivers on IVIG and SCIG administration processes.
Conduct infusion preparation and administration training for self-administered SCIG patients and caregivers.
Reinforce proper medication storage, handling, aseptic technique, and disposal procedures.
Develop individualized education plans based on patient learning needs and health literacy.
Assess patient understanding and readiness for therapy initiation.
Clinical Care Coordination
Coordinate patient onboarding and clinical assessment activities.
Review referrals and clinical information to support therapy initiation.
Collaborate with prescribing providers to obtain necessary clinical documentation and treatment updates.
Coordinate transitions between acute care, clinic-based infusion, ambulatory infusion, and home infusion settings.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning meetings.
Support continuity of care throughout the patient's treatment journey.
Therapy Monitoring & Patient Support
Conduct routine patient outreach and follow-up assessments.
Monitor treatment adherence and persistence.
Evaluate patient-reported outcomes, symptom control, and therapy tolerance.
Identify barriers to treatment and recommend interventions.
Document adverse events, infusion-related reactions, and patient concerns.
Escalate clinical issues to pharmacists and prescribing providers when appropriate.
Clinical Assessment
Perform nursing assessments as permitted by state regulations and organizational policies.
Review laboratory results and clinical indicators relevant to immunoglobulin therapy.
Monitor for signs and symptoms of adverse effects and complications.
Assess infusion-related reactions and support implementation of appropriate interventions.
Identify patients who may require additional clinical support or education.
Provider & Stakeholder Collaboration
Serve as a clinical resource for patients, providers, caregivers, and internal team members.
Communicate patient progress, adherence concerns, and clinical updates to healthcare providers.
Collaborate with infusion nurses and pharmacists to optimize therapy management.
Support provider offices with therapy-specific education and clinical information.
Quality & Outcome Management
Monitor patient adherence and therapy persistence measures.
Support specialty pharmacy clinical programs and outcomes initiatives.
Assist with patient satisfaction initiatives and quality improvement projects.
Participate in accreditation and quality management activities.
Contribute to clinical documentation and outcomes reporting.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain complete and accurate clinical documentation in pharmacy and electronic medical record systems.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state nursing regulations, payer requirements, and accreditation standards.
Adhere to accreditation standards and organizational policies.
Participate in audits, quality reviews, and regulatory inspections as needed.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
Experience in infusion therapy, immunology, neurology, specialty pharmacy, home infusion, or specialty biologic therapies.
Strong patient education and communication skills.
Knowledge of chronic disease management and patient engagement principles.
Proficiency with electronic health records, pharmacy systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Specialty pharmacy or specialty infusion experience.
Knowledge of immunology, neurology, rheumatology, or rare disease treatment pathways.
Experience supporting accreditation standards and quality programs.
Multi-state nursing licensure preferred.
