Full job description
About KARL STORZ
From the operating room to surgery centers—and everywhere in between—KARL STORZ North America is a global leader in medical technology and advanced visualization solutions. We design specialty innovations, smart instruments and devices, integrated ecosystems, and intelligent imaging—to build a more connected, software-enabled operating room.
As an independent, family-owned MedTech company, we ambitiously think in generations instead of quarters to improve patients' lives around the world.
About the Role
The Buyer Planner is responsible for Finished Goods inventory management and supply planning activities for an assigned portfolio of products, most of which are sourced from KARL STORZ manufacturing sites. This mid-level Supply Planning role is focused on ensuring the Right Product is in the Right Place, at the Right Time, at the Right Cost, from the Right Supplier — managing all supply planning activities to maintain appropriate stock coverage levels that deliver the highest level of customer service while meeting the Company's inventory priorities and goals.
This role is based in our Auburn, MA facility.
What You'll Do
Partner with Demand Planning, Marketing, and Product Management to develop demand and supply plans
Create purchase orders with suppliers, factoring in established order-to-delivery lead times, volume discounts, and effective order handling quantities
Verify supplier acknowledgment of orders, including their ability to deliver as requested and at the price and terms listed on the PO
Communicate with suppliers to expedite or de-expedite order deliveries as demand patterns shift
Collaborate with Transportation and Warehouse Inbound teams to resolve transportation delays, shipment errors, and receiving discrepancies
Work with Quality on non-conforming product and "First Article" inspections
Support Accounts Payable in researching and resolving invoice discrepancies
Communicate with Marketing and Product Management on product availability issues and lifecycle management
Partner with Customer Service to resolve sales order entry errors
Follow FDA Rules, Regulations, and Guidance for 21CFR820 as it applies to purchasing and related activities, and support the Quality Management System
Identify and initiate continuous improvement ideas to boost efficiency, improve service levels, and reduce waste
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in a related field; in lieu of a degree, 8 years of directly related work experience is required
A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience with direct or transferable skills
Strong computer and systems skills
Solid analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and math skills
Above-average written and verbal communication skills
What Will Make You Successful
Ability to handle multiple priorities and transition easily between topics
Results-oriented and self-motivated, with strong time management skills
Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in managing changing priorities and work situations
Strong multicultural, cross-functional communication skills, along with financial and business acumen
Bachelor's degree with 4 years of related experience is a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with an advanced skill level in Excel, is a plus
Familiarity with Material Resource Planning systems and SAP experience is a plus
