Description:
People Risk Consultant — Marsh
Location: Perth, Western Australia (statewide travel)
About Us:
Marsh is a trusted risk advisor to a Western Australian self‑insured mutual, delivering specialist risk consultancy to local government members. This role sits within a team of people risk consultants.
The opportunity:
At Marsh, we partner with LGISWA to support the local government sector in Western Australia. This role joins Marsh’s team of risk specialists, working closely with LGISWA and its members to provide practical risk management support across the sector.
With a clear focus on helping members mitigate psychosocial risks—combining hands-on support, capability building, and system-level change—you will help shape our approach to protecting worker health and wellbeing and driving best-practice initiatives across local government.
Key responsibilities
Partner with LGISWA and its members to embed best-practice psychosocial hazard identification, risk assessment, and controls—tailored to sector needs and member diversity.
Design and recommend pragmatic, evidence-based people risk strategies across key psychosocial risk factors.
Support organizational change through implementation plans, education packages, and targeted communications that embed safer ways of working.
Deliver workshops and develop practical resources on psychosocial hazards, resilience, and psychological safety for diverse audiences.
Support delivery of early-intervention services and critical incident support for members.
Produce clear, actionable recommendations and implementation plans for senior leaders and key stakeholders.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking an adaptable, consultative practitioner—ideally with organisational psychology expertise or closely related experience—who enjoys solving workplace problems and translating evidence into practical action.
This role blends early intervention support, education, change management, workplace safety, and stakeholder engagement.
Essential Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in organisational psychology, psychology, counselling, WHS, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications and/or relevant certifications desirable).
Local government and/or public sector experience highly regarded.
Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and training capability; confident briefing leaders and partnering with operational and executive teams.
Valid Australian driver’s license and willingness to travel within Western Australia.
Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain) and any sector-specific clearances required.
Why join Marsh:
We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
