Join a global transformation program shaping the future of how Rio Tinto works
Based in our Perth Hub
About the role
We are looking for an experienced training and capability professional to lead the design, development and delivery of training and enablement activities supporting Rio Tinto's Modern ERP transformation.
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and influential learning professional to help drive workforce readiness and adoption for one of our largest enterprise-wide business and technology transformation programs.
Based in Perth, and supporting the APAC West region, you will work closely with stakeholders across the business, from Modern ERP colleagues, to operational and change teams, subject matter experts and implementation partners to ensure employees are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence required to successfully adopt new processes and systems.
Reporting to the Manager, Learning & Enablement and working within the Modern ERP Program, you will:
Lead regional training needs analysis activities to identify capability gaps and learning priorities across impacted business groups
Design, develop and implement engaging learning and enablement solutions aligned to business objectives and transformation milestones
Deliver and facilitate training programs using a range of learning approaches, including instructor-led, virtual and digital learning experiences
Partner with stakeholders, subject matter experts and program teams to develop fit-for-purpose training strategies and plans.
Measure training effectiveness through evaluation frameworks, reporting and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement
Manage learning governance activities, ensuring training content, records and resources remain current and accessible through learning management systems
Build strong relationships with regional leadership teams, HR stakeholders and implementation partners to support successful change adoption
About you
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Demonstrated experience designing, delivering and evaluating training, learning or capability programs within a large and complex organisation
Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across multiple levels of the business
Experience supporting organisational change, transformation or technology-enabled business improvement initiatives
Strong project management and coordination capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities and delivery timelines
Experience working with learning management systems and adult learning methodologies
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Organisational Development or a related discipline will be highly regarded, as would experience working with SAP or S4Hana.
What we offer
Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you’ve helped the world progress.
A work environment where safety is always the number one priority
A contract opportunity working directly for Rio Tinto, on our largest ever digital transformation project
A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with annual incentive program
Comprehensive medical benefits including subsidised private health insurance for employees and immediate family
Career development & education assistance to further your technical or leadership ambitions
Ongoing access to family-friendly health and medical wellbeing support
Leave for all of life’s reasons (vacation/annual, paid parental, sick leave)
Exclusive employee discounts (banking, accommodation, cars, retail and more)
Where you’ll be working
You’ll join the Modern ERP Program — a multi‑disciplinary team bringing together technology, process, data and change specialists to reshape how work happens across Rio Tinto. We’re modernising a 20‑year‑old ERP system and redesigning core business processes to improve safety, efficiency and ignite innovation.
This work supports our people across global operations to spend less time on transactional tasks and more time on work that really matters. By simplifying and digitising how the organisation runs, the Modern ERP Program is creating the foundation for future productivity gains, smarter decision‑making and AI‑enabled transformation.
About Rio Tinto
Rio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company. We operate in 35 countries where we produce iron ore, copper, aluminium, critical minerals, and other materials needed for the global energy transition and for people, communities, and nations to thrive.
We have been mining for 150 years and operate with knowledge built up across generations and continents. Our purpose is finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs – striving for innovation and continuous improvement to produce materials with low emissions and to the right environmental, social and governance standards. But we can’t do it on our own, so we’re focused on creating partnerships to solve problems, create win-win situations and meet opportunities.
Respect and Inclusion
At Rio Tinto, we particularly welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, the LGBTI+ community, mature workers, people with disabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds.
We are committed to an inclusive environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves. We want our people to feel that all voices are heard, all cultures respected and that a variety of perspectives are not only welcome – they are essential to our success. We treat each other fairly and with dignity regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or anything else that makes us different.
We're finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs. Iron ore for steel. Low carbon aluminium for electric cars and smartphones. Copper for wind turbines, electric cars and the pipes that bring water to our home. Borates that help crops grow and titanium for paint.
