Position Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HR Specialist to manage the full employee lifecycle with a primary focus on recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding. This role is critical in ensuring smooth HR operations, accurate payroll support, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be a certified professional with substantial experience in the construction sector, adept at handling sensitive processes with efficiency and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for various roles, from job posting and sourcing to screening, interviewing, and offering.
Develop and maintain strong talent pipelines, particularly for field and construction-related positions.
Collaborate with hiring managers to define role requirements and ensure a positive candidate experience.
Employee Onboarding & Offboarding:
Coordinate and conduct comprehensive onboarding sessions for new hires, ensuring a seamless integration into the company.
Manage the termination process, including exit interviews, documentation, and compliance with employment standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records throughout the employment lifecycle.
Payroll & Administrative Support:
Collect, verify, and process employee timesheets in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist the payroll department by preparing and submitting relevant data, ensuring accuracy for payroll processing.
Administer and process claims related to payroll, benefits, and Workers' Compensation Board (WCB).
HR Systems & Compliance:
Utilize and maintain HRIS (BambooHR) and financial software (QuickBooks Online - QBO) for employee data and related transactions.
Operate and leverage the Ceridian Dayforce platform for HR, payroll, and workforce management functions.
Ensure all HR practices and documentation comply with federal/provincial employment laws and construction industry regulations.
Support various HR projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
A recognized HR professional certification (e.g., CHRP, CPHR, SHRM-CP, PHR) is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience as an HR Generalist or Specialist, with a proven track record in recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding.
5+ years of experience within the construction industry or a related field is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated hands-on experience processing timesheets, payroll data, and WCB/insurance claims.
Tractics knowledge and experience would be considered an asset.
Technical Skills (Mandatory):
Proficiency in BambooHR (or a similar HRIS) is essential.
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) for financial/HR data reconciliation.
Proven ability to operate Ceridian Dayforce for comprehensive HRM/payroll tasks.
Other Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of employment legislation, WCB procedures, and payroll fundamentals.
Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
