The Senior Commissioning Technologist is responsible for testing and commissioning primary and secondary power equipment in high-voltage substations. They also provide mentorship to junior staff and ensure all work adheres to safety and industry best practices.
Candidates must hold a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering. A minimum of 4 years of experience in field testing and commissioning within high-voltage substation environments is required.

What You'll Do
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Senior Commissioning Technologist is responsible to commission and test primary and secondary power equipment in the field which includes maintaining medium to high-voltage substation power delivery equipment such as breakers, switchgears, circuit breakers, relays and transformers. The Sr. Commissioning Technologist is also responsible to mentor and educate junior technologists including reading and interpreting prints, Risk Management and industry best practices. The Senior Commissioning Technologist also plays a leading role in setting up and operating standard as well as specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of power delivery equipment on the job site.

Schedule & Compensation
Schedule rotations range from 4 days on / 3 days off or 8 days on / 6 days off, etc.
Standard workdays are 10 hours (7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week
Out-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent)
Additional Information
This position is designated as safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.
