You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you
Join WSP's Hazardous Materials and Occupational Hygiene team in Brisbane as an Occupational HygieneConsultant / Licensed Asbestos Assessor. This role is ideal for someone with up to five years' commercial experience who is looking to build their consulting career while working on a diverse mix of asbestos, hazardous materials and occupational hygiene projects.
You'll work alongside experienced consultants to help clients identify and manage workplace health hazards, undertake asbestos-related assessments and clearances, and deliver practical solutions that create safer workplaces and communities.
With exposure to major clients, hands-on field work, mentoring from industry experts, and genuine opportunities to develop your technical and consulting skills, this is an outstanding opportunity to accelerate your career in occupational hygiene and hazardous materials consulting.
A current Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA) accreditation is an essential requirement for this role.
What You'll Do
As part of our team, you’ll support a range of asbestos, hazardous materials and occupational hygiene projects, including:
Conduct asbestos air monitoring, clearance inspections and related LAA activities.
Develop asbestos monitoring and decontamination strategies, including issuing clearances.
Undertake hazardous building material surveys, sampling and pre-demolition inspections.
Provide technical support on asbestos removal and remediation projects.
Conduct sampling for airborne contaminants such as respirable crystalline silica, dust and chemicals.
Support assessments relating to physical hazards such as noise and vibration.
Assist with indoor air quality, mould and moisture assessments.
Help manage small to medium-scale projects with support from senior team members.
Analyse data and prepare technical reports, proposals and recommendations
About You
You’re early in your consulting career, or ready to move further into consulting, and you want to use your asbestos and hazardous materials experience in a role where you can keep learning. You enjoy practical site-based work, take pride in doing things properly, and care about helping clients create safer environments.
To be considered, you must hold a current Licensed Asbestos Assessor accreditation. This is a key requirement for the role and will allow you to contribute to asbestos monitoring, clearance and related project work from day one.
You’ll also ideally bring:
Up to five years’ commercial experience in asbestos, HAZMAT, occupational hygiene or a related field.
Experience in asbestos consulting, hazardous materials surveys, air monitoring or clearance work.
An interest in developing your consulting, client relationship and project delivery skills.
Confidence working on site and communicating clearly with clients, contractors and project teams.
An appetite to continue developing your report writing, technical assessment and project management capability.
A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
