Full job description
Company Description
We are Chandos.
We exist to build a better world.
Our vision is to emerge as Canada’s premier technical builder, distinguished by our relentless pursuit of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in all that we do.
We are 100 per cent employee-owned, and our success is driven by our employee owners. We prioritize people, purpose, and performance in all that we do. When the company thrives, you benefit directly. When everyone is invested - literally - it builds a community of accountability, pride and mutual support.
We look for team members who are gritty, accountable, and driven - with a mindset rooted in initiative and purpose, you think like an entrepreneur and build strong, trusting relationships through clear communication and thoughtful dialogue, even in challenging conversations.
Job Description
We are looking for a highly driven Recruiter to act as the foundational support for our internal recruitment function. In this role, you will work side by side with recruitment leadership to take ownership of candidate screening, recruitment administration, and external agency management.
This is a growth position designed for someone with the raw DNA of a headhunter who is ready to refine their corporate HR skills. You will come in to handle the critical groundwork, with the direct goal of being mentored and trained to eventually grow into a highly valued internal headhunter in this fast moving and fast growing company.
Partner with recruitment leadership to build and streamline the tools, processes, and playbooks for our growing team.
Own the day to day execution of our job postings and proactively search for talent across LinkedIn, Indeed, and other sourcing channels.
Conduct high impact resume reviews, initial candidate screening calls, and fearless cold outreach to passive talent. You cannot be passive in this role; you are actively headhunting and acting as an ambassador for our company.
Manage the backend of our recruitment systems, including building SmartRecruiters templates for other users, tracking candidate flow, and pulling recruitment data and reports to help us make smart decisions.
Act as the primary point of contact for our external recruitment agencies. You will help vet new agency partners, review their candidate submissions, and ensure we are all working together smoothly to hit our timelines.
Shadow senior recruitment processes to learn the construction market inside and out, grow into the role of a trusted advisor, preparing to step into a full cycle, specialized headhunting role.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience in an agency recruitment environment.
Minimum 2 years of experience in corporate or in-house recruitment.
Previous experience in inside sales, marketing, or business development is highly ideal.
Previous experience in IT, marketing and data analysis is an asset.
Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
An established understanding of construction is an asset.
What You Must Inherently Possess
You have a natural ability to build instant trust, actively listen, and artfully sell an opportunity to a passive candidate. You are fearless on the phone and comfortable cold calling.
You are genuine, authentic, and outgoing, yet you always remain polished and professional as an ambassador for our brand.
Even while handling administrative tasks, you think proactively like a hunter. You are always looking for the next great candidate, not just waiting for them to apply.
You are AI savvy, intelligent, and exceptional with details. You love finding ways to use new tools and technology to make your workflow faster and cleaner.
You do not freeze in ambiguity. You ask the right questions, take rough ideas, and figure out the path forward to keep momentum going.
You operate at light speed but know how to execute flawlessly within corporate HR, governance, and equity guardrails.
You seamlessly adapt your communication. You can manage agency partnerships effectively in the morning, build casual rapport with site teams at lunch, and present polished data to executives in the afternoon.
You know time kills deals. You move with purpose, follow up instantly, and never let candidates go cold.
You reject the hyper competitive, individualistic nature of traditional headhunting. You are deeply collaborative, genuinely care about the success of your peers, and know that we accomplish more when we work as a unified team.
You deeply care about your candidates, clients, and team. You are human, not a machine. When things get difficult, you have the grit to keep getting back up. You do not let blunt feedback or the inevitable rejection of headhunting defeat you. Instead, you process it, shake it off, and keep pushing forward. Grit.
