Full job description
About Halter
At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter. It's changing lives and transforming an industry. People join Halter to do meaningful work. By joining us you’ll be solving challenging problems within a talented team and a culture built for high performance. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We’re committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn’t easy, and in truth, we love that it’s hard.
We're after a Financial Operations Analyst to be the engine room of our day-to-day finance operations, covering customer accounts, supplier payments, and employee expenses. You'll be the go-to person the wider business turns to when they need something sorted, fast and right.
This is a cross-functional role by design. You'll work closely with Sales, Customer, People and teams right across Halter, not just Finance. If you like variety, own outcomes, and want your work to actually move the needle, this is for you.
What You'll Do
Customers: Support accounts receivable process: invoicing, collections, and resolving billing queries quickly and professionally, protecting the customer relationship every step of the way.
Suppliers: Support our Financial Accountant on accounts payable: processing invoices, supplier onboarding, reconciling accounts, and being a reliable point of contact for our suppliers.
Employees: Manage the employee expense process: reviewing claims, reconciling corporate cards, employee reimbursements and keeping a high standard on details required without slowing the business down.
Cross-functional support: Be the first port of call for finance questions from teams across Halter: clear, fast, and helpful, every time.
Process improvement: Spot the gaps, fix the clunky stuff, and build better ways of working. We want someone who improves the system, not just runs it.
Month-end: Support close activities related to AR, AP and expenses, keeping our financial records accurate and audit-ready.
What You'll Bring
Experience in an accounts, finance operations, or accounts administration role, ideally across AP, AR or expenses. Sharp, numbers-hungry graduates who are keen to learn fast are welcome too.
Sharp attention to detail. You notice the things others miss, and you chase them down until they're resolved.
A genuine bias for action. You see a problem, you fix it. You don't wait to be told.
Comfortable operating at pace, with ambiguity, and without a playbook for everything.
Strong communication skills: confident chasing payments, questioning a number, or pushing back, whoever you're talking to.
A customer-first mindset, and pride in doing things properly, not just quickly.
Most of all: you're keen. You want to roll your sleeves up and build something exceptional, not just show up for the job title.
Why Join Us
Real ownership from day one, with visibility across the whole business, not just Finance.
A seat on a team that's here to win, moves at max velocity, and backs each other to get there.
The chance to shape how finance operations work as Halter scales fast, across NZ, Australia and the US.
An office-first Auckland team that works hard, shares the wins, and doesn't take itself too seriously along the way.
Our Benefits
Delicious snacks and drinks are available for your daily flow.
Healthy body, healthy mind. We're partnered with Southern Cross Health Insurance to support your well-being.
We offer 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave and many other parental benefits that support you and your family.
Our personal growth is important. Halter offers an annual $1000 self-development budget to be used for anything that fuels personal growth.
Our time to recharge is valued, we're offered wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave.
Importantly, we offer an inclusive and attractive remuneration package made up of salary, benefits and an employee stock ownership plan.
Our Office First Approach
Humans are wired for connection. Being office first is a core pillar of our culture because in-person connections drive your growth, learning, impact, and relationships. Strong relationships make it easier to disagree, give feedback, and do meaningful work together.
We're office first, not office only. Working from the office is our default, but we flex when needed. We have a high-trust culture where everyone is trusted to do what's best for Halter.
Our office vibe is special, the high energy and spectacular people make work enjoyable. Your growth and impact are unlimited here, coming from solving problems, innovating, and constantly learning from each other.
Join our team
