General Summary:
Responsible for creating and implementing engaging and educational activities for school-age children during before/afterschool hours. This role involves developing age-appropriate lesson plans, fostering a positive and safe environment, and promoting the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child. Supports program manager with administrative tasks and assignments. Serves as designee staff person to support with program operations in absence of manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee classroom management practices and provide coaching to school-age worker.
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with educational standards and program goals.
Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials to engage students and foster a love of learning.
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and respect.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
Address and resolve behavioral issues in a timely and constructive manner.
Assess students’ academic and developmental progress through observations and other evaluation methods.
Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.
Identify students who may need additional support and work with program coordinators and parents to develop intervention plans.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication and involvement in program activities.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends.
Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team meetings to share ideas and strategies for improving student outcomes.
Support manager with implementing and enforcing compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards, including health and safety guidelines.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, activities incident reports, student progress notes, and other required documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
Support manager with guidance, and assistance as needed to staff members.
Provide information to supervisor in completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and other essential documents and correspondence as required by funding sources and Marillac St. Vincent Family Services.
Monitor and ensure information is entered into program data management system in a timely manner.
Assist with the onboarding and training of new staff, ensuring they understand program policies, procedures, and expectations.
Assist with inventory management, ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available and properly maintained.
Provide feedback on program effectiveness, participant engagement, and areas for improvement.
Implement changes or improvements as directed by program management to enhance the overall program experience.
Participate in meetings at the organization and/or team level, supervision, coaching, training, and professional development activities.
Education and Experiences:
Associate degree in Education, Youth Development, Recreation Management, or related field from an accredited college or university with experience working in family services in a nonprofit social-services setting required. Bachelor’s preferred.
Minimum of one year of experience working with school-age children in an educational or afterschool setting preferred.
Qualifications

Extended work hours beyond 40 hours/week when necessary, including evenings, weekends and for special events.
Flexibility with schedule as requested.
