JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Junior Associate works under the Human Resources Director. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources Department. The Junior HR Associate will be primarily responsible for maintaining employee personnel files, assisting with the hiring process, entering employee information into the Human Resources Management System (HRMS), and report writing. This position may also be asked to provide support to employees regarding Human Resources related inquiries. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in posting open positions to various job boards (i.e., Indeed, NPA, Paycom, Gads Hill Center Career Page, and others). Assist with hiring, retention, and termination processes. Create and maintain personnel files for new hires. Assist during new hire orientations. Maintain HR personnel files for current and terminated staff. Enters data in databases and excel spreadsheets as required. Assists in updating HRMS system (Paycom) to reflect current employee departments, positions, pay rates and other relevant information. Creates and generates various reports at the request of Human Resources Director and/or Leadership Team. Assists employees by providing answers to questions pertaining to HR processes and procedures. Assists with the organization and implementation of all staff meetings and staff appreciation events. Distribute staff appreciation gifts (birthdays, anniversaries, and others). Assist with payroll procedures. Assist with benefit administration procedures.
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all Gads Hill Center employees are responsible for the following:
Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends. Participates in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable). Participates in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years of Human Resources Experience Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills. Excellent communication and people skills, ethics, and cultural awareness Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.

Gads Hill Center supports low-income families on the west and southwest sides of Chicago. We currently work with more than 4,000 children and their families by providing high-quality, accredited programs and services:
• Early Childhood Education: Empowers parents to be their children’s first teachers with early childhood development resources for over 160 expectant parents and families and comprehensive educational and developmental services to over 550 at-risk children from newborns to age five.
• Youth Services: Provides out-of-school programs to children from kindergarten through sixth grades, mentoring to at-risk sixth through eight graders, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) focused academic enrichment and college preparatory programs to high school students, serving more than 400 students annually.
• Comprehensive Family Support and Community Services: Connects nearly 800 children & families to comprehensive resources that meet their educational, job and health-related goals on a continued basis.
