In this role, you will:
Build, enhance, and maintain Android application features that deliver reliable, high-quality customer experiences across multiple Expedia Group brands and use cases.
Design and implement clean, testable Kotlin code, including well-structured APIs and data models, following Android and mobile engineering best practices.
Contribute to system and low-level design for mobile components, including screen flows, interaction patterns, navigation, error handling and integration with backend services and data sources.
Diagnose, debug, and resolve issues in Android applications, improving performance, stability, and usability through data-driven analysis and experimentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver features end-to-end, ensuring high code quality with unit tests, UI/integration tests, and continuous integration practices.
Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
5+ years of relevant professional experience.
Professional experience developing Android applications using Kotlin, including shipping and supporting features in production.
Experience owning well-defined components or services within a mobile application, including API consumption, data modeling, and integration with backend systems.
Solid understanding of Android fundamentals (lifecycle, Compose layouts, navigation, networking, threading, performance) and core software engineering practices such as code reviews, testing, and version control, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and the ability to safely integrate AI/ML‑enabled solutions into mobile features under guidance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in Kotlin for modern Android application development.
Experienced with Jetpack Compose for building scalable, declarative Android UIs.
Knowledge of mobile design patterns and Android architectures (such as MVVM, MVI or similar), including clear module boundaries, API design, and scalable data models.
Track record of improving performance, reliability, and observability of Android features at scale using metrics, logging, and experimentation to guide decisions.
Experience contributing to or influencing mobile application technical design, including system design for feature areas, GraphQL API contracts with services, and low-level UI interaction design.
Demonstrated practice of operational excellence for mobile apps, including monitoring, alerting, on-call participation, and iterative improvements based on incident learnings.
Safely integrates and operates AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, with hands-on experience leveraging AI-driven tools in development workflows or mobile product features appropriate to this level, and familiarity with applying AI/ML concepts to enhance mobile user experiences.
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $146,000.00 to $204,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
