The Opportunity
As one of the Staff Epidemiologists, you will support systematic evidence mapping, literature reviews, evidence synthesis, and health hazard assessments. Working closely with senior scientists, toxicologists, exposure scientists, and other multidisciplinary experts, you will evaluate and interpret epidemiologic evidence to support environmental health and public health decision-making. Candidates in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC area are preferred for this role.
This role is contingent upon award of the project.
Core Responsibilities
Support systematic reviews, evidence synthesis activities, and health hazard assessments.
Evaluate and interpret epidemiologic studies examining associations between environmental exposures and health outcomes.
Conduct literature screening, data extraction, study quality assessments, and risk-of-bias evaluations.
Contribute to systematic evidence maps, scoping reviews, systematic reviews, and evidence evaluation protocols.
Apply epidemiologic principles and evidence evaluation frameworks to assess study findings and public health impacts.
Evaluate study design, exposure assessment methodologies, confounding factors, and statistical approaches.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate epidemiologic, toxicological, exposure, and mechanistic evidence.
Draft and contribute to technical reports, scientific publications, and other project deliverables.
Support scientific presentations, client interactions, and peer review activities.
Utilize literature review technologies, evidence management platforms, and data visualization tools to enhance review and synthesis processes.
What We Value
P4 = Master's degree plus 7 years or PhD plus 4 years of relevant experience.
P3 = Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years, Master's degree plus 3 years, or PhD plus 0 years of relevant experience.
Degree in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biostatistics, Population Health, or a closely related scientific discipline.
Experience conducting epidemiologic research, systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, or environmental and occupational health evaluations.
Knowledge of study design, causal inference, risk-of-bias assessment, and interpretation of epidemiologic evidence.
Experience evaluating observational, cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies.
Familiarity with systematic review methodologies and evidence evaluation frameworks.
Strong analytical, scientific writing, and communication skills.
Experience working within multidisciplinary scientific teams.
Experience with statistical software such as R, SAS, Stata, or Python preferred.
Experience supporting federal health, environmental, or research agencies preferred.
