Key job responsibilities - Lead a group of talented engineers in bringing the AWS PrivateLink control plane to the next generation of scale - Drive impact for all of AWS in an exciting problem space that is just getting started - Deliver on business objectives, prioritize work, and influence partner teams to achieve shared goals - Establish goals and focus attention on the most important inputs to drive desired business outcomes - Grow the team by hiring, investing in people, and developing talent from within - Enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform existing systems to meet customer demands - Apply deep knowledge of software development and architecture from user experience through to the data layer at Amazon scale utilizing AWS services - Mentor and develop some of the best and brightest engineers to help them learn and grow
A day in the life As an SDM on AWS PrivateLink, you will partner with engineering leaders, product managers, and principal engineers to define technical direction and deliver features that impact millions of customers. Your days will include sprint planning, design reviews, mentoring engineers, and removing blockers. You will collaborate with partner teams across AWS Networking to align on shared goals. You will balance operational excellence with innovation, ensuring your team delivers reliably while exploring new solutions to complex distributed systems challenges at scale.

Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
