Full job description
Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace, bringing together the world’s leading risk takers to advance global progress.
Our strategy is focused on delivering strong underwriting performance, operating an efficient and flexible marketplace, and maximising the capital advantage of the Lloyd’s market — while continuing to build a Lloyd’s we are proud of.
How we deliver this, matters. We take the risk, make things happen, and own the outcome — working together across our global network to turn insight into impact.
Lloyd’s are currently looking to recruit a Chief of Staff to the Chief People Officer. This is a high-impact role at the heart of the function. You'll help shape priorities, drive execution and ensure our leaders have the insight, focus and support they need to deliver. Working across a wide range of senior stakeholders, you'll bring structure to complex challenges and help turn strategy into action. If you're looking for a role that offers influence, variety and exposure to senior leadership, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
What you'll do
As Chief of Staff, you'll help lead the operational rhythm of the People function, ensuring we're focused on the priorities that matter most and equipped to deliver against our strategy.
You'll:
Lead the planning cycle and rhythm of business for the People function
Ensure priorities, resources, data and insight are aligned to maximise impact
Partner closely with the CPO, providing trusted support, challenge and coordination across key priorities
Manage the CPO's inbox and diary with excellent judgement, pace and discretion
Anticipate emerging issues and opportunities, keeping the CPO informed, organised and prepared
Act on behalf of the CPO where appropriate, making decisions, responding to stakeholders and driving actions forward
Coordinate leadership activity, governance forums and strategic People initiatives
Create and maintain the People calendar across business-as-usual activity, change programmes and key milestones
Prepare high-quality briefings, papers, recommendations and presentations for leadership discussions and decision-making
Use data, evidence and insight to support planning, prioritisation and performance conversations
Build trusted relationships across the People Leadership Team and wider business
Support clear communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing across the function
Handle highly confidential information with professionalism, integrity and care
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who combines strong business acumen with excellent stakeholder management and organisational skills.
You'll be confident navigating complexity, influencing at senior levels and bringing clarity to competing priorities.
You'll bring:
Experience working closely with a senior executive, director or functional leader
Strong business management, planning or Chief of Staff experience
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong judgement and experience handling sensitive and confidential matters
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A collaborative approach and the ability to influence across different teams and levels
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data and insight into meaningful action
Experience coordinating strategic initiatives, governance activity or transformation programmes
Resilience, curiosity and a proactive mindset
Why join Lloyd's
We're committed to building a culture where people can thrive, contribute and grow. We believe different perspectives make us stronger and help us create better outcomes for our market, our customers and each other. In this role, you'll gain unique exposure to strategic decision-making, work closely with senior leaders and help shape the future direction of our People function. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how we operate, strengthen how we deliver and play a key role in building a Lloyd's we're proud of.
Being inclusive at Lloyd’s is integral to how we work — and how we deliver impact. We aim to build a diverse, inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we serve, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect and supported to reach their full potential.
We take the risk by challenging traditional thinking and being proactive about inclusion. That means being open and positive about workplace adjustments, prioritising health and wellbeing, and investing in diversity and inclusion training so everyone feels able to contribute and succeed.
We make things happen by turning our commitment into action. Through employee networks, mentoring, volunteering opportunities and sustained investment in professional development, we create an environment where inclusion is experienced day‑to‑day — not just talked about.
We own the outcome by focusing on impact. By bringing together diverse perspectives and the best minds in the industry, we work collaboratively with underwriters and brokers to create innovative, responsive solutions that share risk and solve complex problems across global markets.
