Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Join our HR Technology team as a Senior ServiceNow Developer and play a key role in transforming the colleague experience across Barclays. In this role, you’ll design and deliver high impact ServiceNow HR Service Delivery solutions, working closely with HR and Technology stakeholders to shape architecture, drive agile delivery, and integrate with platforms such as Workday and the Microsoft ecosystem. Combining hands on development with technical leadership, you’ll help set standards, improve performance and security, and deliver innovative solutions at scale, making this an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about modern HR platforms and meaningful enterprise transformation.

To be successful as a Senior ServiceNow Developer, you should have experience with:

  • Architecting and implementing ServiceNow platform and HR Service Delivery solutions at enterprise scale.

  • Implementing NowAssist for Generative and Agentic AI use cases.

  • Supporting infrastructure such as Workday, Entra, Microsoft Graph, Microsoft 365 (Teams, Copilot) at a working knowledge level.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience designing conversational interfaces with Copilot.

  • Experience working with zero copy data architectures.

  • Experience designing and implementing end to end use cases with Workday.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role will be based in either our Glasgow or Northampton office
