About Us
Scissero is an AI-enhanced legal services company built for financial institutions. We combine expert legal support with intelligent automation transforming how transactional law is delivered.
We’re not a traditional law firm. We are a diverse and globally distributed team of lawyers, engineers, and innovators working across the U.S, EMEA, and APAC. We believe technology augments, not replaces legal expertise. Our culture values collaboration, inclusivity, and flexibility.
Location: New York
Hours: 9am – 6pm (ET/EST) On Site Client Secondment
Position Overview
As a Legal Specialist, you will support live private equity, M&A and financing transactions for leading global investment firms, asset managers and corporates. You will review and negotiate NDAs and ancillary transaction documents in line with client-approved playbooks, ensuring alignment with legal and commercial positions.
This role sits within Scissero’s Legal Managed Services team and is being hired to support a planned secondment with one of our key clients: a leading global alternative asset manager with a high-volume transactional pipeline.
The successful candidate will initially join Scissero for a few months of onboarding, training on our legal review processes, client playbooks, legal technology, workflow systems and service delivery model. Following this, they will undertake a ~12-month client secondment, working closely with the client’s internal legal and investment teams.
During the secondment, you will support the review, negotiation and management of NDAs and related deal-flow documentation. The role will also include legal operations support. Prior legal operations or secondment experience is not required, but candidate must have interest and willingness to learn.
This role would suit someone who is highly organised, client-facing, curious about how legal services are delivered at scale, and open to developing broader legal operations skills alongside core transactional legal work.
Following the secondment, the candidate will return to Scissero and continue developing within the Legal / Managed Services team, bringing back deeper client-side experience and operational insight. You will use Scissero’s proprietary AI-enabled platform to support document review, deviation identification and playbook application, while retaining full ownership and accountability for final output.
This is an opportunity to build strong transactional legal experience while working at the forefront of AI-enabled legal services, supporting sophisticated clients on complex, real-world transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Review, draft, and negotiate NDAs and ancillary transaction documents across private equity, M&A, and financing transactions.
•Undertake a planned 12-month secondment with a leading global alternative asset manager following an initial onboarding period within Scissero’s Managed Services team.
Apply client-specific playbooks and structured frameworks to ensure alignment with agreed client positions.
Identify deviations from playbook positions and implement appropriate fallback language in line with client guidance.
Manage your own workflow and document queue, prioritising effectively to meet defined turnaround times and service levels.
Support live deal execution across multiple concurrent transactions in fast-paced environments.
Work directly with internal stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency and service excellence.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and delivery workflows.
Legal Technology & AI Integration
Use proprietary AI tools to accelerate document review and enhance accuracy and consistency.
Maintain full oversight of legal output, ensuring all deliverables meet client and internal quality standards.
Provide structured feedback to product and engineering teams to support ongoing platform improvement.
Work within an AI-native legal delivery model that combines legal expertise with technology.
What you'll bring
Law degree (LLB or equivalent).
1-3 years of experience in transactional legal work, contract review, or similar high-volume legal environments.
Experience reviewing NDAs and/or similar transactional agreements.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistently high-quality work.
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting private equity, M&A, capital markets, or financing transactions.
Experience at legal tech firms, law firms, ALSPs, Big 4 legal teams, or in-house legal departments.
Experience working with structured playbooks or standardised legal frameworks.
Prior experience in an operations role with a demonstrated interest in developing and expanding these skills further would be beneficial, although not essential
Core Competencies
Strong ownership mindset and accountability for work product.
Ability to operate effectively in high-volume, deadline-driven environments.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively as part of a global team.
Professionalism and clear communication.
Interest in legal technology, innovation, and developing legal operations skills.
Why join us?
Direct exposure to live private equity, M&A, and other corporate transactions.
Experience supporting leading global investment firms and corporates.
A planned 12-month secondment with a leading global alternative asset manager.
Hands-on experience with an AI-native legal delivery model.
Rapid development of transactional legal expertise.
Opportunity to work as part of a high-performing global legal team.
Exposure to legal operations, workflow management, reporting and process improvement in a high-volume legal environment.
Global Benefits
Hybrid and remote working options, with the ability to request to work from other countries (upon request)
