Telesat is seeking a Training Coordinator & Documentation Manager to support the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs across our technical and operational teams. In this role, you will manage training logistics, maintain competency records, and oversee documentation standards that support safe, efficient, and reliable satellite operations. You will collaborate across departments to ensure training content and documentation reflect current systems, processes, and best practices. The SatOps Training Coordinator also manages other SatOps Documentation; playing a key role in strengthening SatOps segment documentation library. This includes ensuring documentation is accurate, accessible, and tracked. This position is essential to supporting Telesat’s commitment to operational excellence and the successful deployment of next‑generation satellite technologies.
\nResponsibilities
Designs, implements, and maintains training programs that support technical operations, safe operations, compliance, and new system onboarding.
Schedules and facilitates training sessions across SatOps teams, ensuring alignment with operational needs and project timelines.
Maintains training records, certification status, and competency matrices to ensure staff readiness for mission‑critical operations.
Consolidates vendor training packages for reuse/representation for future training sessions.
Oversees creation, revision, and organization of technical documentation, Operations Procedures, work instructions, and knowledge‑base materials.
Ensures training and documentation meet Telesat’s quality standards and support compliance with regulatory and industry requirements.
Work closely with engineering, operations, HR, and safety teams to ensure training content and documentation remain accurate and up to date.
Identifies opportunities to enhance training effectiveness, documentation clarity, and knowledge‑sharing processes.
Organizes training sessions; including facilities, attendees, trainers, logistics, etc.
Education and Experience
Diploma or degree in education, communications, technical operations, or equivalent in a related field; 3+ years in training coordination, documentation management, or technical operations support; Familiarity with space segment operations, telecommunications, aerospace, or other high‑reliability technical environments is an asset; Experience with document control systems, LMS platforms, Jama, Sharepoint and collaboration tools, is an asset; Strong communication and interpersonal abilities both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills and fine attention to detail; Experience in documentation and records administration.
Decision Making and Supervision
Ensures general policy governance is followed; recommendations are reviewed for technical soundness or judgment but are generally accepted as technically accurate; Guides decisions on the technical development of SatOps related training; Follows program documentation management guideliness and processes; Ability to work unsupervised; Manages development of training materials; working with SMEs.
