The Medical Assistant 3 supports patient care by monitoring patient flow, obtaining vital signs, and documenting information in the electronic health record. They also assist providers with exams, manage patient messages, and handle administrative tasks such as referrals and insurance authorizations.
Candidates must have certification from an approved Medical Assistant program and at least one year of recent experience in a busy healthcare environment. A current American Heart Association CPR certification and CPT-1 certification are required.
Under supervision of the Practice Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, the Hospital Assistant III assists in the delivery of care to patients being seen in the practice. They will perform assigned patient care procedures in support of the care services provided to patients within the practice. They are required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the department. The assistant will room patients, take vitals, schedule follow up visit, support the process of obtaining referrals and authorizations and address in-basket message sent by patients. They work as a team member with other staff and consistently projects a professional, caring and courteous demeanor. The Hospital Assistant III is responsible for the efficient patient flow and provides support to multiple physicians. They communicate with referring physicians’ offices as needed. They routinely prepare medication refills for provider approval and ensure non-English speaking patients have access to an interpreter.
