The Laboratory Assistant performs pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory testing procedures, including specimen collection and processing. They also provide customer service, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and obtain a Medical Assistant Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant Certificate within six months of hire. Basic computer, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, along with Basic Life Support certification.

The Lab Assistant performs the pre-analytic phases of laboratory testing procedures and may also perform the analytic and post analytic phases of waived testing procedures. Duties include face to face and telephone customer service; computer data entry and retrieval, workplace cleanliness and maintenance. S/he is responsible for documentation of all activities, monitoring supplies, and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and lab testing. Responsible for following KP Laboratory policies and procedures.
