JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Program Specialist for the PET and Theranostics Division within the Department of Radiology located in Durham for coordinating complex patient workflows, facilitating multidisciplinary communication, and ensuring patients meet all clinical, procedural, and scheduling requirements prior to PET imaging and theranostic treatment. The position requires independent judgment, exceptional organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of radiology and nuclear medicine workflows to support safe, efficient, and timely patient care.
JOB DUTIES
· Coordinate PET and Theranostic Patient Workflows – Coordinate pre-screening requirements, verify clinical readiness, monitor workflow milestones, and ensure all prerequisites are completed before imaging or therapy.
· Clinical Communication and Coordination – Serve as the primary liaison among referring providers, radiologists, APPs, technologists, nursing, radiopharmacy, scheduling teams, residents, and fellows to coordinate patient care activities.
· Scheduling and Operational Coordination – Coordinate complex scheduling involving radiopharmaceutical availability, laboratory requirements, multidisciplinary appointments, and treatment timelines. Resolve scheduling conflicts and workflow barriers.
· Patient Eligibility Review (10%)– Review referrals and required documentation to ensure patients meet established clinical and procedural requirements. Identify missing information and coordinate resolution prior to treatment or imaging.
· Reading Room Operations – Support daily reading room activities by managing communications, prioritizing requests, coordinating physician workflow, and responding to operational issues affecting patient care. Assists radiologist by monitoring and prioritizing all the PACS worklists for critical exams, STAT exams, follows up on incomplete studies and communicates with technologists for resolution in a timely manner to support report turnaround time targets.
· Quality Improvement and Process Enhancement – Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational projects that enhance patient access, workflow efficiency, and service delivery.
· Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program with one year of experience in program administration or event production OR two years of postsecondary education with three years of experience in program administration or event production.

· Knowledge and use of medical terminology (specifically anatomy)
