POSTING CLOSE DATE:July2, 2026
BCI's Data and Analytics platform drives decisions across 75% of the organization, and we are looking for a Senior Data and Analytics Engineer (Platform) who can step in and own it. Based out of our downtown Vancouver office, this is a hands-on platform role with real scope, a modern stack (Databricks, Power BI, enterprise Claude via MCP), and a team that moves fast and holds itself to a high standard. This is a one-year temporary contract for someone who is ready to contribute from day one, with minimal direction and maximum impact.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Technology department is BCI's innovation catalyst and digital transformation engine, pioneering the future of institutional investment through cutting-edge technology solutions. We architect next-generation platforms powered by AI and cloud-native technologies that drive investment excellence and operational efficiency.
As a strategic partner across all areas of BCI's business, we don't just implement technology—we envision breakthrough digital experiences of the future. Our department leads digital transformation initiatives, creates intelligent automation solutions, and builds secure, scalable infrastructure that supports everything from identifying investment opportunities and decision-making, portfolio management to risk analysis, trade processing, and regulatory reporting.
We cultivate digitally empowered workplaces through advanced collaboration ecosystems and productivity platforms, enabling our Technology and business teams to thrive in tomorrow's investment landscape.
Within Technology, the Data and Analytics team enables roles across BCI to make better decisions and deliver better outcomes.
WHAT IT’S LIKE WORKING IN THE DATA & ANALYTICS TEAM
Modern tools, pushing boundaries: We run Databricks, Power BI, and enterprise Claude (already connected to our data platform via MCP) and are actively replacing traditional processes with agentic workflows using Databricks Genie, Claude Skills, and Claude Code
High-impact work: 75% of the organization uses our analytics; we work with smart ambitious business users and highly analytical people on high-ROI use cases
Great culture: Fast-paced with world-class expectations, but supportive and genuinely fun
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Reporting to the Manager, Data & Analytics, the Senior Data & Analytics Engineer builds and operates BCI’s Enterprise Data Platform — the foundation that powers analytics across the organization. You’ll work with minimal direction on the platform that other engineers, analysts, and business users depend on every day.
Leads, builds, and maintains the platform components the rest of the team relies on including ingestion, transformation, governance, orchestration, and observability across the full delivery lifecycle, including mentorship of more junior engineers
Designs platform patterns and shared infrastructure that scale including catalog and permission models, deployment frameworks, data quality, and federation between systems
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Minimum 6 years of related experience
Advanced proficiency with SQL, Python, and modern data platforms (Databricks preferred)
Evidence of being a top performer, self-starter, curious & capable of learning new skills, behaviours, and tools quickly
NICE TO HAVES
Advanced proficiency using LLMs and using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, Claude Code)
Hands-on experience with Databricks or comparable Lakehouse technologies
Experience with cloud data platform administration (Azure preferred), CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code
WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This role will be based in our office in downtown Vancouver, BC. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely one day a week.
SALARY RANGE
The annualized base salary range for this Vancouver-based role is CAD $106,000 to $128,000
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package for temporary employees, including paid vacation, sick leave, a defined benefit pension plan, an Employee and Family Assistance Program, and a benefits allowance in lieu of company-funded health coverage.
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
