McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. (MAE) is seeking an Electrical EIT or Technologist to join our team at our Head Office in Burnaby, BC. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in building Electrical systems, with 1-3 years of related experience or a new grad with relevant co-op and academic work experience.
About the Job:
Preparation of design documents such as drawings, specifications, and other relevant technical documents for client review, tender, permit application, and construction.
Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other specialty consultants.
Site reviews/field investigation.
Perform building condition assessments
Coordinate and run meetings internally and externally.
Develop budgets and cash flows.
Develop/review shop drawings.
Carry out contract administration duties.
Assist with full cycle management of projects from project initiation to post-construction.
Provide production assistance to the electrical department which includes; setting up Revit and AutoCAD files and cleaning up working drawings.
Electrical system design (lighting, power, fire alarm, communication) with supervision.
Ensure MAE design checklist is being followed.
Prepare drawings, specifications, and reports necessary to deliver a project.
Coordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
Work with the project team and senior electrical engineer to ensure on-time project completion.
Evaluate the quality of technical design and support activities, assuring technological quality throughout the firm.
Respond to internal and external communication regarding project status and report to the project manager any updates.
About You:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent schooling/ experience.
Registered or eligible to register as an EIT with EGBC or Technologist with ASTTBC.
1-3 years of experience in a similar role or new grad with relevant co-op and academic work experience.
Strong technical writing skills and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic.
Ability to engage in creative and critical solutions independently and in a team environment.
Check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
Work with the team to meet the project budget and schedule.
Technically proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk CADD/Revit, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
Relevant building science and construction industry-related experience.
Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, building codes, ASHRAE 90.1, and relevant standards.
Receive and offer constructive criticism and communicate professionally.
Scale process, design, and effort as required by various roles on projects.
Willingness to travel to remote and northern sites across British Columbia and Alberta. Must be comfortable with multi-day site visits and field assignments.
Valid driver’s license as an asset.
Willing to undergo security screening (similar to a criminal record check).
