Assists the Transportation Operations Manager in planning and controlling the safe and efficient transport of students. Key duties include scheduling substitute drivers, performing safety inspections, and managing bus delays using tracking software.
Requires a high school diploma, successful leadership experience, and a valid NC Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with P&S endorsements. Candidates must meet strict DOT drug testing and driving record standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical requirements are consistent with those for medium work. Department can contact the school’s Physical Therapist for assistance, if needed, with proper lifting techniques.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in an office environment and school bus or school transportation vehicle and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, and parents. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to loud noise levels; fumes or airborne particles; vibrations from driving a bus; and various road and traffic conditions. The temperature on the bus could be cold or hot, depending on the weather.
