POSITION PURPOSE:
In collaboration with the Director of the Central Carolina Teaching Initiative (CCTI): Wake-Durham oversees all Educator Preparation Program (EPP) components to include recruiting, training, coaching, licensing, and retaining a diverse, high-quality teacher pipeline committed to serving students and communities. Leads the integration of the CCTI EPP into the Human Resource (HR) structures within both the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) and their partner district Durham Public Schools (DPS). Serves as liaison between partner districts to develop the strategic vision and implementation of a “grow-your own” diverse, high-quality educator pipeline. Manages the day-to-day operations of the EPP. Develops the coaching team capacity for effective remote coaching. Works with the curriculum team to support training aligned to residency licensure requirements. Communicates on a regular basis with district departments, educators, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI.) Monitors and analyzes program data for review and program improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
Extensive knowledge of adult professional learning design and facilitation;
Extensive knowledge of best instructional practices and the needs of beginning educators;
Considerable knowledge of curriculum and curriculum design across multiple content areas, including standards-alignment;
Extensive knowledge of North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards;
Extensive knowledge of the educator licensure process, regulations, and requirements;
Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps; Canvas;
Excellent customer service skills;
Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
Ability to design and deliver professional development to adult learners;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
Ability to lead and motivate staff;
Ability to perform data analysis;
Ability to use a systems approach to assess program needs and develop long and short-term plans;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, and the community.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in education, school administration, or related field;
Five years of successful teaching experience;
Experience in planning and delivering professional development to adult learners;
Leadership experience in district training, coaching, development of educators;
Hold or be qualified to hold a NC Professional Educator License in content teaching area;
Hold or be eligible for North Carolina Professional Educator’s license in an administrative license area of School Administrator-Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist;
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the state of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in HR within public education;
Experience planning, developing, and implementing curriculum across multiple content areas;
Data collection and analysis experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, operationalizes, manages, and promotes the CCTI: Wake-Durham North Carolina-approved EPP for resident teachers within a two-district partnership.
In collaboration with the Wake-Durham HR team, oversees the recruiting, licensure, and coaching of CCTI resident teachers.
Develops and leads a collaborative coaching team implementing a common vision and mission through remote coaching. Includes selection, contracting, and professional development.
Provides support and supervision to the CCTI Administrator, Coordinating Teacher, contracted part-time educators, and the CCTI coaching team.
Assumes responsibility for submitting applications for licensure and licensure requirements, maintaining a database of all resident educators, their licensure requirements, certification tracks, program progress.
Maintains ongoing communication with district HR staff, resident teachers, and NCDPI.
Recruits high-quality potential resident educators, screens applicants, and makes final determination regarding acceptance into the program in collaboration with WCPSS and DPS.
Works collaboratively with WCPSS and DPS central services to evaluate teacher and program effectiveness through qualitative and quantitative analysis, in alignment with current NCDPI EPP licensure requirements.
Evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of CCTI: Wake-Durham and provides reports and information as requested by WCPSS, DPS, NC EPP annual reports, and Title II summaries. This includes the tracking of teacher effectiveness, recruitment, retention, and placement information and support for all teachers who have participated in CCTI.
Manages the annual budget for CCTI: Wake-Durham, including working to establish district payroll deductions for tuition fees, hiring contracted coaches and contracted instructional facilitators.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office and school environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment, as travel is required to schools, central service offices, and other locations within Wake County.
