Job DetailsJob Location: Los Angeles, CA 90020Position Type: Part Time (up to 29 hours)Salary Range: $20.60 - $20.60 HourlyTravel Percentage: Up to 25%Job Shift: After SchoolPosition Summary
Every afternoon, families trust the YMCA to provide a place where their children can continue learning, build friendships, and discover new interests after the final school bell rings. As the Site Coordinator, After School, ASES Grant, you'll lead a high quality, ASES-funded after school program that helps children grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment. You'll coach and support a team of Program Leaders, partner closely with school administrators and families, and oversee engaging club based experiences that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and foster a true sense of belonging. If you're passionate about developing Team Members, strengthening school communities, and creating meaningful opportunities for children to thrive, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact every school day. This is a part-time, seasonal, grant-funded position supporting elementary school students during the academic year.
How You'll Make an Impact
Lead a high quality ASES-funded after school program where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn and grow. Coach, mentor, and support a team of YMCA Team Members to deliver engaging enrichment activities, academic support, recreation, and youth development experiences. Build strong relationships with school administrators, families, and community partners to strengthen the program and support student success. Create meaningful experiences that promote academic achievement, positive character development, teamwork, and a lasting sense of belonging. Help ensure the program operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with YMCA and ASES grant requirements while fostering a positive culture for children and Team Members.
Schedule
This is a part-time, seasonal position that follows the school calendar. Site Coordinators typically work Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., averaging approximately 25 hours per week. Occasional morning, evening, and weekend hours may be required for paid trainings, professional development, family events, and special events throughout the year. Additional opportunities for work may be available during school intersessions, summer day camp, and other YMCA youth programs.
Who We're Looking For
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys leading others, building authentic relationships, and creating environments where children, families, and Team Members thrive. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and passionate about youth development. You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy mentoring staff, partnering with schools, and creating engaging experiences that help children build confidence, discover new interests, and reach their full potential.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
Twenty one (21) years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. College coursework in Child Development, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Ability to successfully complete the district required basic education assessment. Experience leading adults and working with School-Age children in a group setting. Experience planning and implementing age appropriate, developmentally appropriate youth programs. Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with children, families, school staff, and Team Members. Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment. Completion of required health screenings and background clearances prior to working with participants.
