About Syngenta
At Syngenta Crop Protection, we're pioneering solutions that safeguard global food security while championing sustainable agriculture. As a world market leader headquartered in Switzerland, we empower farmers with innovative crop protection technologies that defend against nature's toughest challenges. We unite advanced science with digital solutions to develop intelligent crop protection that maximizes yields while minimizing environmental impact. Join our mission of revolutionizing plant protection from seed to harvest.
Job Description
At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's Finance Team is seeking a St Gabriel Finance Business Partner based in Greensboro, NC. This role will serve as the primary financial steward and strategic advisor for the Saint Gabriel manufacturing site, providing financial oversight, cost management, and proactive business insight to drive operational performance and cost efficiency.
Partnering closely with site leadership and operations, this role ensures cost integrity through accurate reporting, variance analysis, and robust financial controls, while collaborating with NA P&S Finance Business Partners and global supply teams to lead deep dives into cost drivers for select active ingredients, with particular focus on Atrazine. Through timely financial analysis, scenario planning, and forward-looking forecasting, this role proactively supports strategic decision-making and ensures alignment with Syngenta's financial standards and long-term supply objectives.
Accountabilities:
Deliver accurate and timely site cost reporting, comprising manufacturing variances, cost of goods sold (COGS), overhead absorption, and inventory valuation, ensuring financial integrity and compliance with Syngenta standards.
Drive continuous improvement in operational and financial processes, reporting tools, and automation to increase efficiency and analytical depth. Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-based improvements. Maintain a robust key stakeholder network at the Saint Gabriel site.
Lead the annual standard cost-setting process for the site, coordinating with Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain to ensure rates and Bill of Materials (BOMs) accurately reflect planned production activities.
Prepare and manage site budget and Latest Outlook (LO) cycles; proactively bring forward-looking financial insights and partner with site leadership to align financial plans with operational realities, P&S/Finance-level cost targets, and overall strategic priorities.
Conduct monthly variance analysis (VPC, MFC, Idle) and communicate findings with clear, actionable commentary to site management and the NA CP Production Finance Lead, while ensuring robust financial controls at the site level, comprising cycle count oversight, inventory reconciliation, and audit readiness.
Support the capital expenditure (CAPEX) process, comprising project approval, spend tracking, and post-completion reviews across an annual CAPEX envelope of approximately $40M.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 6–8 years of finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or site-based finance role.
Prior experience in chemicals, crop protection, or a related industry is an advantage.
Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
Applies hands-on standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, cost accounting, and manufacturing finance expertise to identify cost-base improvement opportunities.
Uses SAP FI/CO, ECC or S/4HANA, Power BI, SAC, Excel, and AI-enabled tools to improve reporting, analysis, efficiency, and business value.
Brings experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial close processes.
Uses scenario planning to anticipate cost challenges while balancing near-term priorities with long-term strategic goals.
Desired:
Strong manufacturing finance acumen to understand cost drivers, P&L impacts, inventory implications, and cost-base improvement opportunities.
Ability to maintain strong internal controls, support inventory reconciliation and cycle count oversight, and ensure adherence to Syngenta financial policies.
Ability to proactively identify inefficiencies, drive process improvements, and adapt to evolving business priorities, transformation requirements, and system changes with minimal disruption.
Ability to apply critical thinking, attention to detail, and forward-looking scenario planning to anticipate cost challenges while balancing short-term targets and strategic goals.
Additional Information
Required Travel: up to 15-20% to the Saint Gabriel site (every 6 weeks).
Required presence @ GSO site: at least 2 days per week, with additional onsite days as needed based on business needs.

A culture that celebrates belonging and collaboration, promotes professional development, and strives for a work-life balance that supports the team members. Offers flexible work options to support your work and personal needs.
Full Benefit Package (Medical, Dental & Vision) that starts your first day.
401k plan with company match, Profit Sharing & Retirement Savings Contribution.
Paid Vacation, Paid Holidays, Maternity and Paternity Leave, Education Assistance, Wellness Programs, Corporate Discounts, among other benefits.
