Provide administrative support for HR, payroll, finance, and general office operations for Child Care Services and assist other Student Affairs departments as needed.
Coordinate new hire onboarding, personnel transactions, payroll processing, and bi-weekly/monthly time reporting using the Time Reporting System (TRS).
Assist with childcare enrollment processing, attendance tracking, invoicing, accounts receivable, and other business office functions.
Respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries while providing excellent customer service in a busy childcare environment with frequent interruptions.
Maintain confidential records, prepare correspondence and reports, and support special projects while ensuring accuracy and compliance with university procedures.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
1–3 years of administrative support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and frequent interruptions.
Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
Ability to work independently, perform basic payroll-related calculations, and adapt to changing priorities in a collaborative office environment.
Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Preferred:
Experience supporting HR, payroll, finance, or business office operations.
Experience with University of California systems and processes, including TRS or other payroll/timekeeping systems.
Knowledge of university personnel, payroll, and benefits procedures.
Experience working in a childcare, education, healthcare, or other customer-facing administrative environment.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, learn quickly, and provide dependable administrative support with minimal supervision.

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements. Certain temporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver’s License for driving university vehicles.
The majority of our temporary positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
