The Health Care Aide provides holistic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including monitoring, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring patient safety. They also maintain clinical documentation, prepare equipment, and respond to emergency situations within the unit.
Candidates must hold a Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide certificate, or be a 2nd-year RPN or 3rd-year BScN student. Essential requirements include effective English communication skills, the ability to perform physical tasks like heavy lifting, and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Working as a valuable member of the patient care team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse/ Registered Practical Nurse the HCA provides a range of health care services to support the care of patients, their families and their environment.
Under the direction and supervision of nursing (RN/RPN), provide holistic patient care by performing activities such as:
