ABOUT INSOMNIA:
Insomnia Cookies was founded in a college dorm room by then-student, Seth Berkowitz. Fast forward 20 years and so... many....cookies... later, our innovative bakery + delivery concept has become a cult brand known for its rabid following of cookie lovers who crave Insomnia’s warm, delicious delivery all day and late into the night. With an expanding footprint of over 350 stores globally, an experiential, “sweet-easy” flagship concept, and large scale operations and delivery capabilities ... Insomnia Cookies is revolutionizing the cookie game by truly "Imagining What’s Possible"!
\n
ABOUT THE ROLE:
At Insomnia Cookies, warm is more than how we serve our cookies—it’s how we show up for our guests, our teams, and each other.
As an Assistant Bakery Operations Manager (ABOM), you’ll help bring that to life every day by working side-by-side with your Bakery Operations Manager to build an energized, well-trained team, create unforgettable guest experiences, and keep the bakery running at its best. You’ll coach and develop people, jump in wherever you’re needed, and take real ownership of the details that make a great bakery great—from staffing and inventory to quality, cleanliness, and execution. And when the BOM isn’t there, you’ll be ready to step up and lead.
This role is built for someone who wants more than an assistant manager job: it’s an opportunity to learn the business, grow as a leader, and develop the skills and confidence to one day run an Insomnia bakery of your own.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a key member of the bakery leadership team, you will:
Partner with your BOM to lead day-to-day bakery operations and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Lead the bakery independently when the BOM is away, keeping the team focused and operations running smoothly.
Coach, motivate, and develop Shift Leaders and Cookie Crew members through real-time feedback, recognition, and support.
Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training to build a strong, fully staffed team.
Help create schedules and manage labor to meet the needs of the bakery and the business.
Support ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and shrink control.
Maintain high standards for product quality, food safety, cleanliness, speed of service, and overall bakery execution.
Complete required operational and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
Identify opportunities to improve bakery performance and partner with your BOM and Area leadership to put solutions into action.
Help create a culture where team members know what’s expected, feel supported, and are accountable for delivering their best.
Jump in wherever needed—from serving guests and baking cookies to supporting the team during our busiest hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1+ year of leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or another customer-focused environment.
Experience coaching, motivating, and developing hourly team members.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
A hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump into any bakery role when needed.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and building great teams.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to obtain any required food safety certifications applicable to the location.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Requirements
This position regularly requires the ability to:
Stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift).
Frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift.
Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds regularly.
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Use hands and fingers to handle bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system.
Work in environments with varying temperatures, including around ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units.
Safely operate kitchen equipment in accordance with company procedures.
Read order screens, recipes, and safety information.
Communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position works in a fast-paced bakery environment that includes frequent interaction with guests, exposure to heat from ovens, refrigerated storage areas, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise levels. Evening, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts are a regular part of the business.
Schedule Expectations
Our bakeries are busiest during evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Team Members should have availability during these peak business hours. Scheduling needs vary by location.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Insomnia Cookies is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome. We consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law.
Reasonable Accommodation

Additional Information
Employment with Insomnia Cookies is contingent upon successful completion of any background checks, employment verification, and other pre-employment requirements applicable to the position and permitted by law.

Insomnia Cookies was born out of the dislike of heavy meals late at night, love of food delivery, and the realization that by the time you get hungry at night, nothing is open. The concept was founded by Seth Berkowitz in 2003 from his dorm room while attending the University of Pennsylvania. Berkowitz started baking and delivering warm cookies to students late-night on campus... and Insomnia Cookies was born.
Today with 300+ locations and growing, Insomnia Cookies offers many varieties of delicious cookies delivered warm from the oven right to your door! We are open when you need it most; delivering from 11/12pm and staying open until 3:00am, at most of our locations. Our menu options also include brownies, deluxe cookies, ice cream and of course a pint of cold milk is available with any order. Whether you're feeding a craving or a crowd; Insomnia Cookies has you covered.
