Build bold. Deliver impact. Win together.
At General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada, we’re not just engineering technology — we’re shaping the future of defence and security. Our teams design and deliver advanced, mission-critical solutions that enhance national security, strengthen communities, and protect the people we serve.
If you’re looking for meaningful work that contributes to a safer, more secure world, you’ll find purpose here. Every day, your skills will directly impact programs that matter.
Job Description
We are seeking a Systems Engineering Analyst to provide on-site engineering support for airborne mission systems. The successful candidate will support operational stakeholders through technical analysis, problem-solving, reporting, system investigation, and knowledge transfer. This role is well suited to a systems engineering professional with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work effectively in highly technical, customer-facing environments.
A key aspect of this role is working directly alongside customers and operational teams in a secure environment. This close collaboration enables timely problem resolution, a deeper understanding of operational requirements, and the opportunity to build trusted relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide on-site engineering support for operational systems, including electronic warfare and mission support environments
Diagnose complex failure conditions and perform in-situ repair and modifications on a variety of electrical and computer related systems
Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance tasks – monitoring calibration requirements, creating backups, ordering replacement parts
Lead and support technical investigations related to system, software, subsystem, equipment, and facility issues
Prepare status materials and conduct regular status meetings with stakeholder representatives, including customer and contractor teams.
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to support personnel on system functionality, operational procedures, and tools
Analyze requirements and contribute to verification planning, test coverage analysis, and system validation activities
Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, and reports
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems, software, test, customer support, and program stakeholders
Identify risks, communicate technical status, and recommend practical solutions to support operational readiness
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 4 years' relevant engineering experience
Experience supporting complex defence, aviation, communications, electronic warfare, or mission systems
Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills in hardware, software, or integrated systems environments
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
Experience working in secure or controlled technical environments.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain required security clearances and controlled goods/ITAR-related approvals, as applicable
Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Electronic Warfare Operational Support
Familiarity with requirements management and test tools such as IBM DOORS, RTC EWM, or similar platforms
Experience creating or maintaining test procedures, qualification test documentation, technical reports, or verification evidence
Experience providing customer-facing engineering support in an operational or field environment
Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553
Key Competencies
Systems thinking and analytical problem solving
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Ability to organize complex technical information and bring structure to ambiguous problems
Customer-focused communication and stakeholder management
Initiative, accountability, and sound engineering judgment
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary teams
Working Environment
This role will involve working on-site with customer and operational teams in a secure technical environment. The position requires professionalism, discretion, and the ability to support mission-critical systems while maintaining compliance with applicable security, export control, and customer requirements.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Additional Information
The hiring salary for this position is between $85,000 and $120,000 commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate. The final compensation will be determined based on an assessment of the candidate’s qualifications, including relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.

At General Dynamics Mission Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, we develop mission critical C4ISR solutions across the land, sea, air, space and cyber domains, but that doesn’t tell our whole story.
When downed pilots are isolated in enemy territory, our equipment gives them a lifeline to call home. When a student opens a textbook to learn about the universe, they’re looking at data and pictures sent using our technology. When the government needs to share crucial top-secret information, our products help them keep this information out of the wrong hands. When sailors need to locate underwater mines, our technology allows them to find explosives with unmanned underwater vehicles.
Delivering C4ISR technology is what we do but we think why we do it is more important.
